South Carolina Collection: Yard Liquidation!

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

Sometimes, an ad just speaks to you. As someone who frequents junkyards, both of the private and commercial kinds, this listing for a yard cleanout in Travelers Rest, South Carolina, really spoke to me. Not only that but the curator has an eye for sports and muscle cars of every era, and has assembled a stash of desirable projects ranging from American muscle to European performance cars. This photo shows what looks two rescue-worthy Z cars, with the green car in the foreground wearing headlight covers, and the silver car appearing to at least be an earlier model. Find the whole listing here on craigslist and let us know which car you’ll be calling on.

The owner seems to be someone after my own heart, as I see multiple vehicles I’d love to bring home. This sharp third generation Chevrolet Camaro doesn’t look too far removed from returning to road-going use, and while no specific details about any of the cars are offered, one would hope South Carolina would limit the potential for a field full of rust buckets. This Camaro is loaded up with all of its factory aero bits still attached and the OEM fog lights still in the lower grill, making it seem extremely complete for a car that’s been left in a private junkyard. The listing also shows a BMW 6-Series coupe from the same era, and these are two cars I’d love to bring back to life.

There’s plenty of trucks, too, with this very clean Chevrolet short bed hiding out in a metal building. Other photos show a white Chevy K5 Blazer sitting outside where it’s clearly been exposed to the elements for some time. The engines tossed here and there suggest that someone was extremely ambitious in their project collecting but perhaps less so in their project assembly. Other photos of vehicles in enclosure like these reveal several desirable muscle cars, including two Chevy Chevelles and a Fox body Mustang. Strangely, there’s an assortment of late model BMWs mixed in as well, including an X5 SUV and later E39-chassis 5-Series sedan.

Speaking of late models, there’s also this absolutely filthy Pontiac GTO, and what looks like a Corvette Z06 parked nearby. These are probably the biggest headscratchers of all, as who would let a modern muscle car (that presumably wouldn’t be too difficult to get running again) to sit outside and rot? Of course, these could be salvage or theft cars that the owner snagged for peanuts at auction, and that present all sorts of red tape in terms of brining back to life. My pick of the litter? A teal green Plymouth Laser coupe, which appears to be the top-shelf turbocharged model. This is an interesting collection, and if I were nearby, I’d be over there in a heartbeat to work out a deal for some of the 80s and 90s classics on display.

That ’64 Chevelle and the ’68 C10 immediately caught my attention. One definately needs to have an open mind when going to a sale like this though

The Craigslist ad shows the cars to be located west of Atlanta, far away from SC.

Travelers Rest would be east of Atlanta by about 1-1 1/2 hours. Weird..

My wife drives right past there every day on her commute to work. Been by there many times if it is indeed the correct place. She said they have been cleaning up around there lately. If I was in the market I would be hooking the car hauler up to our beautiful 17 year old Suburban n be on my way to snatch up the pickup.
