Many gearheads will tell us the muscle car era reached its zenith in about 1969. Furthermore, many believe that the mid-size Chevrolets epitomized the muscle car craze. If those statements are true, we have the best of the best available for sale near Orlando, Florida, for only $10,500. The late 60s Chevelles are iconic and highly sought-after today, and this one needs rescuing!
Judging by the photos, this Chevelle is certainly a project. Much of the car is obscured by random piles of stuff. Because of this accumulation of junk, we cannot tell how nice the body may or may not be, and can’t make a call about any rust issues either. We do not know if this was originally a Florida car. My guess is that it is not originally from Florida because of the license plate visible at the rear, which could be a good thing. An even better assumption about this car is that it has not moved under its own power in quite a long time.
The seller claims the Chevelle to be a numbers-matching RPO L79 327 small block that was originally rated at 375 HP. This example is backed by a Muncie 4 speed followed by a 12 bolt out back. The seller advises that it is non-running, but it does come with a clean Florida title. A look in person and some research would reveal specific options and the original equipment the car came with. The interior is a mystery. The seller has not provided much in the way of photos, and there are no shots of the interior in the brief ad.
I think this could be a restorable original classic. On the other hand, it would make a great resto-mod project as well. What direction would you go with this? Would you choose option three and just get it running and leave it as is? How much would you be willing to put into this quintessential Chevy muscle car? Check and see if it is still available here on craigslist.
Judging by what little can be seen among the clutter, this car MAY be a 69, but the front grille, and the rear tail lights are 68. It goes without saying, this is a really crappy attempt at advertising something for sale, especially at the asking price!
The ad says it’s a 1968, the feature on this site says 1969. The seller is the one who has the year right.

yes it looks like a 1968
Owner can hire me to clean out the garage and then give me the car for free. Other than that, don’t waste anyone’s time doing your dirty work.
thats a 68 …
It really doesn’t get any lazier than this. If you show up to see it in person, I’ll bet the owner hasn’t moved a thing at all.
I may not be Patrick Glenn Nichols, but I definitely know that’s a 68.
69 didn’t have vent windows
Only the El Camino did.
Post cars and station wagons had went windows too.

What was really strange, in ’68, the only full size chevy not to get vent windows was the 2 door caprice coupe.
What a crap ad. All yet get is little snippets of what the car is. No pictures of substance. It may have later model high back seats, not sure from the picture.
So much missing information, and this lazy seller has the audacity to ask 10,500 for his peek-a-boo listing? No way.
If it is a 325 HP L79 327, it might be worth the price. 1968 was the last year for a L79 327. Four speed would get it closer to the price.
Could be worth a look. Could you get an L79 4 speed in base 300 Chevelle trim? Gotta be super rare.
Nah, I think it’s the back-up lights in the taillights that justifies the ask. Sheeze!
68 Grille. 68 taillights. 68 doors / vent windows. That part is easy.
Judging by the lower trim and Malibu emblem on the side, it is a 136 Malibu, not a 134 300 Deluxe. Someone just changed one taillight housings and rear bumper (note that housing is blue)
Based on the rest of the ad, I give it about a 0.1% chance of really being an L79 car (which, if it was, would be 325 HP, not 375). And a zero % chance of being a factory M22, because the M22 was only available behind the L78 396/375 in 1968 Chevelles.
Probably as good a chance it was born a 6-cylinder powerglide as what the seller claims!
WOW! What a great find! I wonder if you get all the wonderful things stacked on top when you buy it? I sure could use a portable AC unit! I agree with Bill W…
This ad is what happens when you pull your 19 year old grandkid away from their game console, and tell them to post your old classic on the craigslist.
10 Grand for a storage table covered in attic trash that’s in rough shape? Looks like the left rear quarter is trashed. In fact, everything you can see is trashed. Hood has a big ding in the nose. Kinda looks like a parts car. Bet you drag it out and it’s a saltwater rust bucket, sorry to say.
Gee, lets just take a slight couple of pictures of the car and maybe someone would buy it. (said the owner). SMH
Odd, they show one picture from the back with the hood open, but they don’t have a picture of the engine compartment?
I thought the ad was for used air conditioners!
That is a 1968
It’s a ‘68 and, despite the trash ad with little info, terrible photos and proof that this car received 0 love in recent years….. the owner boosted his price. It’s now $15.5k, up from the alleged starting price of $10. I miss the times when this was a $1500 car at best.
