Storage Unit Find: 1967 Chrysler 300

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

The famous Chrysler 300 “Letter Series” was born in 1955 and continued through 1965 with most models having sequential lettering in the name, aka 300-C, 300-D, etc. In 1962, Chrysler added the Sport Series to the 300 lineup, creating a more affordable package in a wider range of body styles. This 1967 edition of the Chrysler 300 was last registered by the seller’s father in 2001 and it’s been a storage unit for much of the time since. Located in Raleigh, North Carolina, this 440-powered Mopar awaits restoration and being brought back to life. Available here on craigslist, the asking price is $8,500. A shout-out goes to Barn Finder Chuck Foster for this cool discovery.

Chrysler would market the 300 Sport Series through 1971, initially as a replacement for the Windsor (which itself had replaced the Saratoga). The cars combined performance with luxury, which may have been the last step in the showroom before getting to the opulent New Yorker. Besides a 2-door hardtop and convertible, a 4-door hardtop was also in the mix. In 1967, more than 11,500 copies of the coupe were produced, easily outselling the other two body styles combined.

This 300 is loaded with goodies, including the 440 cubic inch big block and an automatic transmission. Since the car has been parked for ages, who knows what it will take to get it going again, a process that will start with getting new keys made as the seller has not been able to locate his father’s set. However, the title is not encumbered, and the seller prefers to make the transaction take place at the local DMV.

The body may be okay, but that’s hard to tell given the tight space the vehicle resides in. There is a dent in at least one rear quarter panel and the turquoise (we think) paint is quite faded. It wears a vinyl top which may be in good shape and the interior seems okay except for some cracking in the front seats. This could be a nifty automobile to restore as you’re not likely to run across many like it at car shows.

Since no keys no title did the car have a paper registration? Bad pictures and could not roll it out also no engine photos. The price is $5,000 because of the body work needed to the right front fender and front bumper missing fender end piece. Does the seller really wants to sell it? 🇺🇸🐻

Be interested if one can see the car. Does the freaking thing have a engine in it or is it a roller. How can someone sell something like this without pictures. Could have gotten a couple of friends to pull it out of the storage space. Add some pictures on craigslist.

It says the title is clear. Just have to do a transfer at the DMV. Shame I don’t have the means right now. My gut tells me a battery, a little trans fluid in the cylinders, rebuild the carb and clean the fuel system. Maybe plugs and wires and this car just may start. Would be great to see it put back together. Maybe some nice wheels, a cam. Flomasters and a little body and interior and this would make a nice driver. Just my opinion. If I only had a better situation.

If only the seller had a couple of friends or relatives to help push the car that 15 feet out of the storage unit. Then, they could have at least taken some decent pics.

Chrysler products of the late 60s early 70s were beautiful cars with big engines. Great combo. I’ve always liked the taillights on these and the dashboards were jet age design from 1957 up.

I always liked this one year only taillight treatment.

Had 2 of these late 70s thru 1989
Both 4spd cars. One my brother totaled and the other was stolen.
Still have a complete set 300 wheelcovers in the shed from the wrecked car.

Every time I look at that photo with the blanket piled up on the trunk lid, I think I’m seeing one humoungous snake coiled up there. Ughhh!
