Stored Since 1992: 1984 Greenwood Corvette

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

Greenwood modified Corvettes were all the rage, seemingly, throughout the 1980s, an era in which bodykits were acceptable modifications on everything from a Dodge Colt to a Mercedes 500SEC. This 1984 Corvette would have certainly tempted its first owners to go wide and low with its already wind-cheating stance, and the resulting kit still looks tidy today. This Corvette has been stored since 1992, and you’ll find here on craigslist (but go here if the ad disappears).

The seller is asking $8K for this in-period modified C4, and you can see the Greenwood aero enhancements wrapped the car from end-to-end. Rear decklid spoiler, front airdam, side skirts and a rear valence with custom exhaust tips were all incorporated, along with some gorgeous BBS (or BBS knock-off) wheels with color-matched centers. With just 65,000 original miles, the seller says it still “…runs like a top” despite the long-term storage.

The seller also refers to the interior as being a “…Greenwood interior.” From what I can see, there is a wood applique across the dash, console, shifter surround and door handles, while the rest of the interior looks like standard C4 fare. If anyone spots any other features that may be Greenwood’s handiwork, let us know in the comments. The classic Corvette sport seats look great in red leather and bolstering still appears robust.

The Greenwood kit really suits the lines of the Corvette well. My judgement of body kits is whether it could pass for a factory-installed accessory, and in the case of the aero effects seen here, I would say yes. The wheels certainly would have been too aggressive for the beancounters at GM, but they fit the car nicely. To drive a car like a Corvette with its period modifications still in place makes this low-mileage survivor a tempting buy if you’re shopping for a C4.

A wood dash in any 80’s GM car is like a mullet paired with an IZOD shirt with the obligatory sweater tied around the neck.

Not a big fan of the greenwood kit, fake wood dash just makes it worse. IMO I’d go $2k-$3K max. There’s a lot of one-off parts on the 84 including the xfire intake. Finding someone that knows what they’re doing isn’t as easy around here as for a TPI. My 2 cents.

Nothing difficult about the crossfire. It’s essentially a 2 bbl carburetor. Twin 1 bbl tbi throttle bodies. Simple diagnostics with a basic scanner. Very little hi-tech about it.

…yea dude, I’m not so sure…simple diagnostics, sure but…at $100.00 labour per hour plus parts, plus shop supplies, plus taxes, all add up to expensive to ownEven if a dreamer wants to do it on their own, I’m not sure it would be worth the headache. I don’t know…for an old, gas guzzler vette, it doesn’t thrill me.

Generally not. We will however respond to a valid subpoena for that information.”

Ad has been deleted by seller and although I really would like to have seen the original ad, what I really want to know was what Steve65 is drinking or smoking right now! LOL
      Steve65, what did I miss? I’m confused by your 2 posts….

I think Steve is saying that technically, Barn Finds is not supposed to be archiving the ad because Craigslist, somewhere in the legal mumbo jumbo says you can’t. But I for one appreciate the archived ads so six months after the original post I can still see it.

        “Legal mumbo jumbo”

        AKA craigslist’s core values.

Am I allowed to do anything I want here on BF? After all, a site’s rules are just legal mumbo jumbo to be waved aside when they interfere with what I want.

Neat car back then, a rich boy’s toy. Probably why I never paid much attention to them back then. Corvettes have gotten scary fast since those days.

Not crazy about the wood dash insert, but I agree with Jeff Lavery, this to me, could pass as a GM designed body kit. I know nothing of ‘Vettes, but this is way, way less gaudy than others I’ve seen posted.

Somebody buried themselves in this car ($) A bit gaudy for my taste but IMO worth the money. I had a ’84 and never had any trouble with it except it was hard to see the inst. panel on a sunny day.
