Tags and Title: 1968 Chevrolet Camaro

Flawless or floorless. One describes an item that is immaculate or perfect. The other describes this 1968 Camaro. There’s no doubt that this 1968 Camaro has seen better days, and the seller says that the restoration is beyond him. The one positive that can be noted about this car, which is located in Hollywood, Florida, is that it comes with a clear title. You will find the Camaro listed for sale here on eBay.

Once upon a time, this Camaro was finished in Lemans Blue with a black top. It would’ve been a great looking car, but that was a long time ago. It looks like it has been a donor car at some stage, before being left to deteriorate to its current state. It appears that the tags are present, so it would be a fair assumption that someone is going to buy this for the tags and title.

When you look at this car and its past, not only would it have been a great looking car, but the combination of a 350ci V8 engine, manual transmission, power steering, and a multi-leaf rear end meant that it would have had the performance to match the looks. Sadly, the drive-train is long gone now, so the new owner will be starting from scratch.

There’s really not much more to be said about the Camaro, except for the fact that there are at least nine people who can see the potential that is here. Even so, bidding has only reached $455 at the time of writing. We’ve seen some crazy bidding on Mustangs that weren’t much better than this Camaro, so how high do you think that it will go?

Being a late-60s Camaro it could bid up to a price high enough to buy two or three running/driving classics.

This has got to be in the top 5 most destroyed cars ever posted here. I just can’t see any value here not even for the tags. It looks like you’ll just be cleaning up the owners mess and then paying him for the privilege of doing it.

The registered owner listed on the title is “Junkman Inc.” Tells you all you need to know.

      Titled in 2009, no less….
Junk when parked, maybe it had a couple of parts which were stripped off? Been getting worse ever since.

surely you jest. The title’s the thing. its up to $770. Some states bust your b*lls so bad when trying to get papers for a lost title i’m sure that title is worth this. I understand in PA if you don’t have a title you might as well send it to the crusher. Would be an easy transaction–pay the guy and have him send the title, or hack the numberplates all off and leave the rest. I’m sure the trailer is junk also. Good luck to the new owner. can’t even see any good parts other than the pedals.

    Cheers

And maybe the “0” in the 350 emblem. My guess is some buyer would want the VIN plate etc and title. Origin of a scam. 3rd owner down the line will never know of the origin.

Why do some state busy your bills? I don’t get it.

I have a temperature gauge from a Lozier. It’s all that was left after the car was stripped for parts. Can I claim the gauge as a donor car? That seems to be the case here. This isn’t a Camaro, it’s a pile of (s)crap metal. I mean, what’s of any value here? I agree with canadainmarkseh, you’ll be paying the seller for doing him a favor.

Yes! The Mopar Freaks would pay top dollar for this rusted heap if it was a Mopar because it’s a Mopar and Mopar Freaks Pay Pay Pay!

If it was a Mopar you could probably put a zero on the end of where it’s bid now..

This is all for you people who laugh a Mopar people… this is no different. Currently at $810 for essentially a pile of scrap makes the Chevy collectors no better, if not worse.

But wait! It has the optional dealer-installed body side molding! Right next to where someone took a can opener to remove the hardtop. Probably the only thing holding this hulk together.

I can’t imagine that applying the VIN from this mess to a new Dynacorn body or a solid 6-cylinder original is anything but fraudulent, but from a practical standpoint, is it worse than tearing a heap like this down to the firewall and rebuilding it, piece-by-piece? I’ve seen some startling restoration photos of cars missing most of their sheetmetal, and I can’t help but wonder how you can rebuild a body that’s been dissected to that point without benefit of the jigs and fixtures used by the factory. Give me the Dynacorn car, but don’t lie about it!

Exactly! A clean doner body or a aftermarket body, what’s the difference? I’ve looked at many rusted heaps and thought, why not retag a really nice doner body? Does it really make much difference? They do it on those fantasy car shows all the time..

Correct me if I’m wrong, but a 350-equipped car in 1968 would have been an SS, right?

What a shame. This is basically the Camaro equivalent of a crushed beer can.

Probably sat behind a guys house or in his yard and every time someone asked if they want to sell it, they heard the famous last words….. NO! I’m gonna restore it! Years later a great car is in the scrap heap..

If it had a 350, and multi leaf springs it would have been an SS. Now the question is did it leave the factory that way or were they both added in the last 50 years. How do you not get Tetanus trying to investigate.

Not so sure how it works in the States, but if you were to buy this car in Canada, switch the title / tags to your own car, you’ve just broken a Federal law according the RCMP, told directly to me. If the VIN were posted, it could be tagged. Agrees with Joseph, this is no more than washing a VIN clean into an unsuspecting buyer…sad

Ok this is the first vehicle on BF that was a car that I know and I can’t recognize one piece of it. This thing ( Camaro?) I won’t even wast hauling to the dump, pay me 500.00 to do that and I may open one eye??

I live in Florida. I would suggest that anyone that tries to retrieve this “donor” car be fully aware of some of the critters that are MOST likely to be living under it. Believe me, you really don’t want to see some of them. But then, the buyer will likely ask that the vin plate, title and tags be mailed anyway.

i would say chain your 68 camaro to your leg while you sleep at night. cause the late night car bandits are looking for a new 68 camaro to put a new vin number on.

Maybe one of those fantasy car show celebrity people want this for a build project. LOL Everyone and his second cousin seem to be getting on the band wagon building collector/restomod cars these days. Dealers coming out of the woodwork…. I think the days or years are numbered for most old cars and the craziness lately. Restoring cars since 1985 before most of these people were out of diapers. Years ago this thing would have been sent to the junkyard when it was only half this bad. Lots of unscrupulous people out there now days..

Yup a Title and vin, and data plate will get you into a brand new Dyncorn body. As long as you explain it to your DMV before ya do it you would be legal in NC. Then after your done making it into a real car have the DMV inspect it and you will get a new reconstructed title. Then there will be one more 68 on the road. You could just buy dyncorn body and get it titled as a 2019 Camaro which would be no different than say an AC cobra clone. You will have fun with it regardless.
