The MG Has Gotta Go!

00q0q_jV9Ni9ZjL4w_600x450

Listed here on craigslist and located in St. Louis this ’74 MG Midget is listed at $1,600!  If you are interested in this chrome bumper unit we think you should make haste and contact the owner. The owner is “cleaning out the garage” and the Midget is on the “short list”.

The fit and trim look presentable for a ’74 driver.  This unit has the factory 1275cc motor and the owner says it will run but there is a small leak in the fuel tank so it is empty.  Should you take some “starter fuel” with you and see if she will fire?

I don’t know what the red over-spray is about on the air filters?  The mileage is unknown as the odometer is not working.  The owner has the title and he had the water pump, fuel pump, and front brakes replaced.  The “hood” (top in USA) was also replaced.

The owner says that the car has been stored indoors.  We don’t know for how long though?  It appears that the white door cards are not the original, they may be recovered and/or replacements.  It appears that maybe a sub-$1600 offer will get you this project.  Do you think you could get this Midget sorted and be ready for Spring ’16?

Cheers,
Robert

I’m no expert on the Midget, but wouldn’t a ’74 have rubber bumpers? And for that matter, wouldn’t the split rear bumper date earlier than 74? Perhaps this car received a bumper conversion, I’m sure somebody out there can tell.

The midget is an impossibly small car in my estimation. My MGB is starting to get more and more difficult to enter/exit, and I’m gonna sell it. I’ve got my sights on a 72 Mercedes 350 SL, which should place me out of the frying pan and into the fire.

The steal of the year! Someone got an amazing deal!
1974 still had chrome bumpers but with large rubber over-riders which this car is not-so-unfortunately missing. ’74 would have also been correct for the split rear bumper.
Refresh the engine bay and wheels then drive!
