Reader Wayne A recently came across as he puts it, the “Mother Lode” of classics at a shop in Southern California! There are survivors that have been waiting for restoration, partly restored projects that need finishing and a few cars that look like they are ready to go. Wayne didn’t think to ask which cars were for sale and which ones are off limits, but he did take lots of photos! I’ll him tell you more about his find below.
From Wayne – Hi Barn Finders, I was in Southern California earlier in the week and ran across this body shop. The owner’s name is Moses. Some of the cars are his and others are his customers. “He” and I did not discuss which was which and whether or not he wanted to sell. But I know for a fact that his wife is on his case to get rid of some. I spent some talking to her too.
The more I looked the more there was there that I wanted to take home (not for a while for me too many right now). So I took pictures for my Barn Finds Brothers and Sisters to enjoy. I was not looking at any close enough for a purchase inspection. But I did not see a rot spot on a single car.
The ’54 and ’53 Bel Air’s caught my eye initially. But it just kept getting better and better as I walked to the back of the property. Enjoy!
I want to personally thank Wayne for sharing his sighting with us! It looks like there could be some great finds here, but there’s a lot of unknowns at this point. Hopefully, he can fill is in on more details of any of the finds you are interested in! So, do you see any cars here that you’d love to know more about?
If you spot a large collection of finds and can take photos of them, be sure to send you pictures to us here at mail@barnfinds.com so we can share it with everyone!
Love that ’67 Impala fastback coupe. I remember when they came out, I was in lust then, and the design has aged well. Great example of 60’s full-size style.
The impala is actually a 1966 — tail lights are a dead give-away
The black fastback Impala is for sure a 1967 model. I’d sure love to have it!
Speedy, I was referring to the black one in the next-to-last thumbnail. It’s a ’67, no doubt.
I wonder if that is a GTO or a Lemans up on the lift.
I was wondering the same thing, had a 65 as my first musclecar, it was mint condition in 1971 and I paid $825 for it.
Motherlode is right!! Wow! Good thing I don’t have deep pockets. (Sigh) (Shaking head) ‘Nuf said.
A 1st generation 2DR Falcon and a 55-56 Ford pickup in progress…Wow
Not a 56, they had a one year only wrap around windshield.
I wouldn’t mind having that 50’s Impala
gto
Speedy D you need new glasses, the sports roof Impala is a 67!
66’s taillights curved around to the sidebody!
67’s are encased in a bezel!
68’s are either 2 round units for a Biscayne and 3 for a Impala!
I’ve had 66’s and 68’s. 68 has the better 327 small block as it has the large journal crankshaft!
I like the 37-39 Buick most as I have a 39 Packard Opera Coupe straight 8
Keep up the good work in the finds
Thanks
Rudeness aside, my glasses are just fine thanks — I was referring to the 66 with only 1 tailight and no rear bumper
I think most of us knew that, your glasses are fine.
I’m with Brian on this. Buicks like this are class.
All about that 2017 Honda Civic….oooooh baby.
What is the drop top, with the flip nose? That looked interesting…
It’s a drop top but idk if it’s a real GTO. I couldn’t send anymore pics
and…..I just went soft….thanks
I want the 58 impala. Email me sellers info nickh11@hotmail.com
Not an Impala. Belair.
lot’sa good looking older stuff. look very busy. pic 14.. cone case shovel was the only thing i got a BOIIING! out of. wish them alot of luck.X mopar dude.my 74 FXE is all i can afford to shovel (pun) my money into now.
Mike;
Drop top appears to have been a hard top, the top corners are flat, nose looks like mid fifties gm truck, doors have been reworked at door handles, looks like they do a lot of grafting (custom) work, look at red stang, it’s got a 68 Shelby hood, El Camino in outside paint booth 70-72 with cowl hood, and tween Stang and Drop top custom ( Carson top project) is the Harley!
its abarn find in a rear yard ,holly smolly,to think, that! this guys got me beat, how about that older 51 merc ,man ,well , the wife ‘s gonna have her day! guys! yu can bet on that!
So great to hear that places like this still exist. A couple of employees can support themselves working on older cars. Most places like this are zoned out of existence, then all this irreplaceable tin goes to the crusher, lost forever.
As lovers of vintage tin we need to support places like this any way we can. Remember once it’s gone, all this history is lost except to our memories.
Lots of great SoCal customs mixed in here. Surprising so many of you are looking at the factory stock cars from the 60s. The old Buick and chopped Merc caught my eye. Hopefully Moses won’t be up on the mountain in his pricing strategy! LOL
I’m wondering, does this guy ever finish anything?
Hey Josh, you left out the picture of the business sign! This place is in Azusa CA.
I’m about 700 miles North of the location in the same State. I would be all over this guy if I had the room; mostly 60s Impalas, the FAlcon coupe, and the 54 and 53 Chevrolet two doors. Easy restorations.
