Yes, this trio of Mercedes W123s are all in rough shape, but Reader George S is asking just $3,500 for all of them. While they are rough, all three run with the 240D being a driver as-is. Robert had plans of using the best parts from each car to build one nice driver, but he isn’t going to get to them, so he just needs them gone. I’ll let him tell you a bit about each one below! And you can find a gallery with additional photos of each car at the bottom of the article.
An all original 1983 240D, 4 speed manual, running beater, no rust on frame or floors (it had a leaky front seal that coated the bottom and a leaky oil pressure gauge line that coated the floor) with 400,000 miles on original engine & trans.
A rust-free 1984 300D turbo with 325,000 miles that was damaged by a hailstorm (windshield, rear window, and about a hundred good dents). Recent motor swap with a 120,000-mile wrecked car (it purrs). The transmission was replaced with new factory replacement at 200,000 miles.
A 1983 300TD turbo (wagon) that is a rust bucket with 300,000 miles. Motor runs and transmission was rebuilt at around 200,000 miles. Cars are complete, I was going to swap the ’84 motor and interior into the 240D and have a 300D turbo with a 4-speed manual. Also was going to swap the black leather interior into the 240D, but I’m running out of time. P.S. The 240D would definitely be a contender for any Concours d’Lemons and could possibly win the 24 Hours of LeMons (it would finish the race, that’s for sure).
Personally, we would use all three cars to build one nice driver. It’s tempting to try and use the wagon body, since you don’t see turbo wagons all that often. So, what would you do with this trio?

The best model Mercedes of the eighties. Just about bullet proof.
If they were not 1800 miles up the road from me, I’d take them.
