Ticket Getter: 1967 Chevrolet Corvette 427 Big Block

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

This modified 427 cubic inch V8 powered 1967 Chevrolet Corvette is located outside Sacramento, California. The car can be seen here on craigslist. The seller is asking a reasonable $79,500 for a car that spent approximately 30 years sitting on display in the Klassix Auto Museum in Daytona, Florida, and has been upgraded to make it a great driver.

The 427 cubic inch V8 engine was rebuilt in 2011 with a roller cam and lifters and aluminum heads. The transmission was also upgraded to a Legends Performance SS-700 5 speed manual transmission. There is no mention as to whether this car is numbers matching or whether the Tri-Power set up is original. The Corvette also has Vintage Air, upgraded radiator, Pertronix ignition, and a 3.70 rear gear.

The car was originally Goodwood Green with a black interior but was switched out to red on red. The car includes options from the factory including power windows and power brakes but no power steering. The seller has put about 8,200 miles on the car since his purchase in 2011. The wheels and tires are aftermarket. The paint and stinger hood look great.

The seller states that the Corvette is a reliable driver that can be driven in 90-degree temperatures. It is currently stored in a climate-controlled garage. The body does have stress cracks near the left headlight but the rest of the car is solid. The undercarriage is said to be extremely clean and the odometer reflects 72,000 miles which the seller believes is accurate.

We can’t end this review without a picture from the rear of the car. This is what most people would see in a drag race and this is what an officer would see as he pulls up behind you to give you a warning but no ticket! The C2 body style is gorgeous and this car would be a fun driver. I know the purists won’t like this car but I like cars that can be driven and enjoyed. What do you like?

Maybe the best driver quality ’67 I’ve seen in a while. Reasonable price too. Just from the pic’s the color change looks to be a very high quality. Didn’t know they offered a five speed shifter with the correct reverse lockout. learn something new every day.

Original would be better for me. I will say it is a Beauty though. My 1st Corvette was a 69 427 conv. without power steering. It was a bear to steer, but a bear for speed too. Now that I’m old I still like my C5, 345 hp automatic. A bit tough getting out of, but I’ll drive it forever!

Nice find.. For me a Corvette need to be a convertible. But I know plenty of guys that disagree with me.

Me too, lid down like my ’70, but these fastback styles are awesome too.

One of my true dream cars!! Even the color is the way I’d want it!! I don’t even mind the extra gear in the transmission!! To me it’s a plus to have!! 67 in my opinion was the best corvette ever!!

I drove a 67 with a fresh 427 L88 motor back in the early 70s. It had been traded in to the dealership I worked at & I had just finished repairing the body where it had side-swiped another car. I took it out for a test-drive & at 70mph downshifted & stood on it. It immediately started to go sideways. I was impressed. I’ve only driven a very few cars in my life that had that kind of power.

Sorry. I find the price ridiculous. Yeah it’s pretty. But no guarantee of numbers match, no original color in or out, modified engine and tranny, and fiberglass cracks too? I owned a 67 convertible that was not a looker like this but was all original. This price, in my opinion, is too high.

Is it just me or did the engine in the video sound very rough on idle. And he curiously cut the engine in less than 30 seconds.

      Cold.
Idle set too low (no choke/high idle for cold start?)

Agree, doesn’t sound that great in the very short running time.
