Our jaws dropped when we found this 1947 Buick Super Convertible. It can be a challenge to find a clean 10 year old car, let alone one that has been around for 66 years! This Buick is claimed to be all original right down to the paint and upholstery. We normally take these statements with a grain of salt, but this one looks legitimate. Find it here on eBay where bidding starts at $200. You be the judge.
We love classic cars that are still wearing their factory applied paint. The finish on this one is not perfect, but we would take it any day over a respray. The seller claims there is no rust or previous repairs hiding under the surface. We would want to give it a closer inspection before forking out the cash, but it does look very good in the photos provided.
The interior is starting to show some age. The seat has a few cracks and the dash has some corrosion, but it is still amazes us that this car can look so good after so many years. The seller has replaced the consumables such as tires and hoses so it safe to drive. They claim it runs and drives like new too. We wouldn’t mind having this Super around for some smooth summer cruising. It would be like a trip back in time…
Looks really good, obviously well maintained. But runs and drives like new after 93,000 miles? Havin’ a hard time with that one…
THIS CAR IS MONEY!
I just say, ‘Gimme, gimme, gimme.’ Going to end up a little rich for my blood though. Very nice find. I hope the new owner continues to preserve and protect it.
Gorgeous. Would love to cruise cross country in that !
Not bad at all. The glove box door is a used replacement and the floor covering is unmatched. Curious about other interior hardware. Not displayed with the top up. All photos at close range which does not allow inspection of panel alignment or frame straightness..
What a fantastic find. And this is the second car this week to have the interior controlled door spotlight, (was to find addresses in the dark) and I’m old enough to remember using one to chase the spot on the screen at the drive in movie during intermission. Yeah, first car was a 48 Plymouth and 2nd was a 53 Oldsmobile with a 47 Cadillac Flathead V-8 in it, This brings back a lot of memories. There was a 57 Buick in there later on too. Thanks for this one and yes, I’d love to take it out cruising on the highways or the byways.
this is a beauty
Started @ $200 but up to about $18K after 24 hrs. Not much of a surprise, since you could almost drive this off the transporter and do your first cruise night later that evening. The biggest problem might be finding (and paying for) replacement tires, since the current Firestone whitewalls look original, and if so, won’t pass a safety check.
Looks to be reasonably priced for such a great blast from the past.
Good luck to the seller & next owner.
One very similar to the one above was sold at the Auburn Fall Auction in 2012 for $14,850 it was listed as a body off restoration completed in 2006.

~ Uh oh, fifteen minutes to Judge Wapner.
Back in the day I had a1949 super sedanette which was a great car and it always drove like a dream! Yes new tires are available This ’47 is equipped pretty much the same. Would love to have it,but no garage space.
looks like a cool car. Too bad it’s a Buick though, as they always seem to bring less $$$ than their counterparts… with one exception I can think of. A friend of a friend owned one of the 49 Roadmaster convertibles used in Rain Man. He had tried to sell it for several years, after it was used in the movie. From what I remember, the best offer he had was around 30 grand, and I think that’s what he finally sold it for. Several months later, it ended up in a Heritage auction…. our heads are all still spinning :-) http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2249209/Classic-1949-Buick-Roadmaster-convertible-driven-Tom-Cruise-Rain-Man-sells-auction-170-500.html FWIW, it had been “restored” though… and I actually like this 47 better.
Very interesting, but imagine the guy who managed to buy Steve Bolander’s 58 Impala, a real ‘car star’ from the legendary American Graffiti. He paid something like $300 for the car a couple years after the movie came out, still has it, and it has to be worth a LOT more than a car from Rain Man.
Oh yeah it is!! This is the car that changed my min d about the best looking chevy ever from the 57 which I had to the 58 Impala. I had forgotten it was also the 1st year of the impala. Anyway, a winner.
