Coming to us from Redford, Michigan, is a tough-looking 1977 four-wheel drive Ford F250. Offered here on eBay with a Buy It Now option of $9,000, this truck is ready for all your off-road adventures or just looking tough driving around the city. However, it does need some cosmetic work, as you can see from the pictures. According to the seller, this truck is mechanically sound and has a rebuilt 351M engine and a rebuilt transmission.
Doing some more investigation on the VIN, we can see that this truck initially came with a 2-barrel 400 (denoted by the “S” in the 4th digit) and was manufactured in San Jose (the 5th digit). The “F26” denotes a 4-wheel drive F250 manufactured from 1973-1979, which fits the listing. According to the “Ford Pickup Truck Red Book, 1946-93”, there were 67,307 4-wheel drive F-250s manufactured, which puts it on the rarer end of the spectrum when you look at total production numbers across the dentside’s years of manufacture. It’s not as rare as an F-350 SuperCab, of course, but it’s still lower than the standard two-wheel drive F-150.
Looking over the pictures in this listing, we see that this appears to be a solid truck. The rust issues are obvious, but due to the popularity of these trucks, good quality (and poor, for that matter) panels are readily available. The great thing about this rig is that you could easily work on it while you made it into the truck of your dreams. Or, leave it alone and have fun with it as is! You wouldn’t have to worry about door dings or nature’s pinstriping as you cruise the back woods. The seller even states that he uses his truck to tow a boat, which has never left him stranded.
So, what do you envision for this truck? Do you want to leave it as a back roads brawler? Or would you fix it, spray it deep black, and pretend to be a 4×4 Darth Vader as you pulled up to your favorite burger joint? Personally, I would find a vintage roll bar, install it with some yellow KC HiLiTES, and hit the dirt with a stack of maps and my trusty partner by my side. Suffice it to say, this truck shows that it has been through many adventures and that there are many more to be had!
I feel like this truck has been leaving rust crumbs so as not to be lost in the forest
Dusty: were you in the RAF? Or a WHO fan, perhaps.
hahahaha. I was not in the RAF, but I am definitely a Who fan! Thanks for the comment, John!
You lost me at the ‘vintage” rollbar and KC HiLites.
Looks pretty nice considering what that Michigan plate implies.
Uncapau he was talking about a bar that attaches in the bed behind the cab that is the same highth as the roof with 4 kc lights on it.
