Trailer Find: 2012 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport

I wasn’t really sure what to make of this late-model Corvette Grand Sport sitting on a trailer with a host of desirable upgrades. Was it blown up? Crushed in the rear? A victim to some other tragedy that left it sitting somewhat crudely staged on a trailer? The answer to all of these questions seems to be no, as the seller describes it as a running, driving car that is mechanically mint but has cosmetic flaws. Find it here on eBay where bidding hasn’t cleared the reserve at the moment.

The current bid is $14,700, which does seem pretty light at the moment. Still, I can’t blame bidders for being lukewarm about a car presented as being in a field of junkers and not even worthy of firing up to roll off the trailer. The Corvette has been modified both mechanically and cosmetically, with the biggest upgrades under the hood in the form of a Magnuson supercharger kit. It has plenty of cosmetic tweaks as well, like these Morimoto taillights.

The interior is in a pretty tired state, which the seller owns up to. There’s an errant piece of trim to the right of the photo that has come loose, along with some basic wear and tear on the interior touchpoints. The seller does shed some light on the mystery of its presentation, noting he lives on a military base and the Corvette was put on a trailer after the sale of his last home (and what sounds like the loss of his garage.) My brother-in-law is in the military and just coming home after a multi-year, cross-country rotation, so I can understand better why the seller hasn’t had the ability to get the car properly staged.

He notes that the trailer could be part of the deal as well, and he’ll include it with any sale that hits $20,000 or better. The Corvette’s supercharger is a nice piece of kit, along with the other upgrades mentioned like an LG exhaust and headers setup (with a Mild2Wild switch), along with a Kenne Bell fuel system. There’s also an SCT custom tune that I’m sure helps make the most of those upgrades. Mileage is high at more than 142,000 but that will also hopefully translate to a better price than you’d find on a time-capsule car. What would you pay for this modified Grand Sport?

Wow, that’s a lot of mileage for a car with an aftermarket supercharger.

The ebay ad says “fresh motor” with supercharger. He’s looking for anything over $20K, that’s cheap.

I was kind of iffy seeing it on a trailer in a field too, but if that’s a storage lot on a military base then it all makes sense. When I was in the military there were brand new cars in the base storage lots that have been sitting for years, falling apart, waiting for their owners to come back from deployment.

Price may be good but I hear the warning of “other people’s projects” pretty loud in my head right now.

She’s a ripper for sure. Not a grocery getter. I don’t think gas mileage was the first consideration.
