Two ’66 Barracudas, One Listing!

Pair of Barracudas

Not one project, but two – maybe. Thanks to Jim S for this great find! This pair of 1966 Plymouth Barracudas are being sold only as a pair here on eBay, where bidding is opening at $999 with no reserve. They are located about 30 miles away from me in Wendell, North Carolina. When the Barracuda was introduced in 1964, the large back window was the main differentiator between the Valiant and the Barracuda. However, by 1966, Plymouth had responded to initial criticism of the platform and introduced the Commando V8 engine package with 235 hp, and the Formula S, which had the Commando engine and other sporty equipment as well.

Of these two cars, the blue one is the closest to being on the road, with a previously rebuilt slant 6.  Rusty floorboards and body and suspension damage on the right side where the car went off the road on a test drive with the rebuilt engine keep it from being road-ready. The interior looks pretty good, though.

whitecuda

The white car has the Commando package, but the seller states that the engine would require a lot of work to be usable, and that a lot of this car is missing (although the parts necessary to fix the blue car are there). My wife wants an early Barracuda, but these are a little too challenging for me–what do you think?

I think the minimum bid of $999 listed by the seller is higher than their combined As-Is value. Huge amount of work and expense for what will be one car worth maybe $20K.

The Mustang had a lot of Falcon parts underneath its skin but hid it well. The ’64-’66 Barracuda, not so much. The ’67 restyle was a much better looking car.

agree, 999.00 still to much for two non running cars that both need full resto. no bids yet, so what does that tell ya? :|

With you guys and as a Cuda collector the 66 is the least favorite of mine. Little fact about the 1964’s – which had the 64 Val’s interior – was that they also had the “Valiant” name plate below the trunk on the rear panel. Now who can tell me the difference in the trunk/front header name plate for a 67 Camero vrs the 68/69?
