There are less then 105K original miles as per the seller. The seller purchased this car from the original owner 15 years ago where it had been sitting, you know where, in an Oklahoma barn. Some of the work that has already been done: a new clutch, the carburetor has been rebuilt, the heater box was restored, new tires and shocks were installed.

The floorboards were restored and have had insulation added. The original owner reupholstered the interior in a non-original design pattern.

'57 MB190 roof

The top surfaces of the car do show surface rust and will need some attention, the sooner the better we think.

'57 MB190 rear

The seller says the MB comes with the original drivetrain, body panels and the factory paint. There is some work that the next owner may wish to attend to: the inside driver’s door handle and the vent window handles need to be reattached, a front end alignment, the brake shoes should be replaced, and replace or clean the fuel tank. Do you wish to have a ’57 MB daily driver? Would you like to do some MB club events or German car shows? If you drop into Santa Fe you might check out some art or hit the slopes after you inspect the Ponton…

Motor-on,
Robert

There is a diesel version like it for sale here in my town with new paint, interior, lots of new parts. It has been for sale for a couple of years……it was with my 220S before the owner died………engine out and disassembled with new parts……2500.00. These are wonderful little cars but very basic and plain……I think that is all the money and more.

@Dave, where do you live, I could be very interested in that diesel that has been for sale for so long.

I’m a little confused, does it snow in New Mexico? I never would have guessed that.

Some of the worst snow blizzards I have ever seen are in Arizona and New Mexico.

My ignorance knows no bounds!, Here in Carnarvon, Ontario we are expecting windchills of -44C tonight and tomorrow. -40 C is equal to -40 F. I’m not going out for awhile.

I’m in central Washington – not too far away. Do you have a name or any way I could contact the owner of the Merc diesel.

My first ski trip was at Sierra Blanca, up the mountain from Ruidoso New Mexico. It even snows in El Paso, Tx, just south of the New Mexico border. Though it rarely lasts beyond lunchtime before melting.

This would be absolutely great for an MB Ponton enthusiast. Someone who knows and loves these please grab this one. I don’t know a lot about these, though I respect them, and the classic car department of my garage is full for the moment. I love to see a quality European car of the postwar era that is this original. Fix the roof paint, polish the rest, attend to the upholstery, clean, adjust everything mechanical and drive!

I grew up in Albuquerque and can attest it does snow there, now, it may melt off in a few hours but ya, it snows. Lol

Pretty little car that needs a good new home. Unfortunately, $6500 US is about $10,000 Canadian at this time.
