Unrestored W30: 1975 Oldsmobile Cutlass Hurst Olds

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

Oldsmobile teamed up with Hurst Performance to build 2,535 Hurst/Olds edition cars in 1975. Of those, 1,293 were painted white and 1,242 were black on the exterior. There were two engine options that year. The W-25 cars had an Oldsmobile 350 cubic inch engine and the W-30 cars had an Oldsmobile 455 cubic inch engine. Slightly more W-25’s were built in 1975 (1,342) compared to the 455 equipped W-30 cars (1,193). This car is located in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey and is listed for sale here on eBay. This 1975 Oldsmobile Cutlass Hurst Olds is listed for sale for $31,900 with 25 days remaining in the listing. The seller has it listed as a Buy It Now but there is also a Make an Offer option.

This interior of the Hurst Olds is sporty with its swivel seats and Hurst Dual Gate shifter mounted in the console. The interior of this car looks to be in excellent condition and the white door panels have not “yellow’d” as many do. All Hurst Olds were equipped with automatic transmissions and came with the sport steering wheel. As mentioned previously, the 1975 Hurst/Olds came in two exterior colors – white and black. This car is a black W-30 Hurst/Olds with a black and white interior (black dash, carpet & console). It was common for many Oldsmobile, Pontiac and other GM cars to be equipped with multi color interiors in the 1970’s. The car has power windows and several other creature comforts.

The engine compartment on this W-30 Hurst/Olds looks clean and factory stock. Since this car was ordered with the W-30 package it was equipped with the Oldsmobile 455 cubic inch V8 engine rated by the factory at 190 horsepower. The W-25 package came with the Oldsmobile 350 cubic inch V8 engine. It had a stock horsepower rating of 170 horsepower. One thing many enthusiast like is the fact that an Oldsmobile engine has the oil filler tube conveniently placed on the front of the engine. You can see it in the above picture next to the top radiator hose in front of the air cleaner.

The odometer reading on this car shows 63,000 miles. The seller obtained this care from the prior owner about a year ago. The prior owner had the car for 47 years. The seller states the air conditioner, heater and aftermarket radio are functional. An 8 track tape player has not been installed but goes with the sale.

Wow, two 1975 Hurst / Olds W-30s featured on BarnFinds on the same day! This one is almost twice the cost of the white one. If my numbers come up Friday night I’Ii take them both.

Is it easy to unsmog or uncork these malaise big blocks ? The HP is astonishingly low.

1975, first year for catalytic converters, with a single exhaust system.
So this Olds shouldn’t have an air injection pump system. Which is good.
Problem is it is a low compression ratio engine, harder to pump out more hp.
Still have tire smoking torque though.

Rare 455 option w-30 with low mileage. Great 442 from my hometown of BH, NJ.
There were a few 442 verts with almost every option growing up. Always had better & more options than the comparable GTOs.

One thing you never seem to mention in these Hurst/Olds articles is that the bucket seats have reversible bottom cushions. I bet that if you flipped these over, the other side is white.

Really nicely appointed car, all the right options for 1975, needs the 8 track to play Barry White tape, never gonna be fast, I have a 73 GP w a 455, it’s good, I’d put duals in this one and cruise, I’d offer 20 grand and see where it goes if I had room and my wife wouldn’t kill me, hope it does 35,000, so I know it’s time to put a 4 sale sign on my Grand Prix
