Very Hot Hatch: 1975 Corvette Sport Wagon

1975 Corvette Sport Wagon

We have featured a few of these Corvette Sport Wagons in the past, so when Robert R. sent this one in I knew we needed to give it a mention. Well, that and the fact that the seller has a whole stash of oddballs and kit cars for sale! Take a look at the craigslist ad here and let us know if you see anything worth pursuing. Personally, I would stick with this wagon. The seller claims that only 10 were built. If that is true then we have featured almost half of the population already here on the site! The $21k asking price seems high for one of the least desirable years of Corvette, but the wagon conversion does make it interesting. So, you could have one of those newfangled hot hatches or one of these. Which would you pick?

I love the ‘Shooting brake’ concept, making a sports car somewhat functional as well. Nice design on this one.

Looks like there are quite a few unusual cars in his collection. Some ‘shortys’ and lots of kit cars, all of which look to have been done well and actually finished. Also some complete, non-shorty US cars and a good looking rod. Also a Ferrari Daytona Spyder fake, but it does look good and should fool lots of people. Plus more cars mentioned but not pictured.

The one that isn’t pictured that I want to see is the ‘V8 Fiat’. It’s too much to wish for that it might be a real ’50s Fiat 8V, so I’m assuming it’s a little Fiat convertible with a V8 conversion. Seller doesn’t do email or text….if somebody calls please ask about the V8 Fiat.

Forgot to mention…I think this car was done by the same John Greenwood who raced very fast Corvettes in the ’70s at Le Mans, etc. And Eckler is a Corvette parts supplier, so it looks like they got together to make a small run of these wagons or maybe sold the parts. There’s a site (greenwoodcorvettes.com) that talks about them. There are a few variations in the design of the ‘wagon’ part on that site and this car is one of them.

I’m a sucker for oddball cars because I like being different, nice collection. The 58 “Shorty” stands out for me. I just wish I could afford and have room for as many toys as this guys has, Jealousy is a terrible disease to have since lots of money is the only cure.

Personally, I always liked the Ecklers Hatch Conversion, which put a Chevy Monza Hatch on the C3 Corvette, I would purchase a 74-77 with an Ecklers Hatch and upgrade to a modern Drivetrain

When I was about 17, a carlot that specialed in hotrods had a yellow one with red flames and a blower. Doug thorley side pipes and cragers, it was one badass car.

I remember making a model as a kid. About 3 years ago my older brother traded his 48 chevy coupe for one, so I will have to find out what number it is and let you know,

‘Flagged for remova’l doesn’t mean the seller removed the ad. It was removed because one or more Craigslisters thought the ad was not legitimate for some reason.

Dan Watson, I’d love to see a photo of your wagon, the earlier bumper cars look cool with this conversion
