1975 Porsche 911s

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

When I first spotted this Porsche 911s, I instantly thought of the 912 we recently featured that the seller had removed the desirable original Fuchs Wheels. This time the seller had the sense to leave the wheels in place! It still ceases to amaze how much these cars go for these days, this one is already bid up to over $8,000 and still has 4 days to go. You can find this project here on eBay in Deerfield Beach, Florida.

1975 Porsche 911s Project

While the seller still managed to get one photo of the car on a trailer, they at least rolled it off the trailer to take most of the pictures. The body looks pretty rusty to me, but the seller claims it’s a nice project. The motor is free, but not running and hasn’t been started in years. They also state their reserve is very reasonable, which leaves me wonder what a reasonable price is for a rusty Porsche these day. It will definitely be interesting to see how this auction plays out!

    The upside:
    – an intact ’70s 911
    – terrific 911 look
    – comes with Fuchs wheels
    – engine turns
    – will likely end up being relatively affordable compared to earlier 911s
    – looks like reasonable seller to do business with

    The downside:
    – located about a mile from the ocean, probably has more rust than you think
    – mid-’70s 911s have the least upside of the early 911s
    – will cost as much to restore as the more desirable early 911s
    – IIRC, ‘S’ model has the base engine with no additional power
    – 2.7 engine is problematic unless rebuilt to fix the design flaws; will still produce modest power
    – battering ram bumpers

Nothing to see here, move along.

This is one of those cars dragged out that is most certainly “a train that went off the tracks years ago”. The fortunes of the rest of the 911 family means anything that rolls (and some that don’t) are being hawked to unsuspecting buyers.

What rust you see is only the tip of the iceberg.

Restoreable but you would need to get it a lot cheaper I enjoy taking on the rust and the metal fabrication would like to own a car like this but I think a person needs to finish existing projects before getting into another. If I were looking to buy my max. Would be $5000.00

Five years ago you couldn’t give these mid 70s cars away, I literally turned one down for free because I didn’t want to drive Maryland to get it. Now that the long hoods are well north of $20,000 for a project, these are getting some love. The good news is they aren’t any different then restoring any other Porsche, just bring time and money to the party and the car will dance. The other piece of good news is by the mid 70s they were galvanizing the bodies, so might not be as rusty as it would be if the car was a 66.
