Here’s an interesting cragslist ad that Steve A just forwarded to us. The seller would like to trade a couple of junkt 944s for a toolbox. That may sound like a good trade, but he doesn’t want just any old toolbox. He wants a large Snap-On, Mac, or Matco toolbox. So, I’m not sure who would get the better end of the deal here. He also has some other random photos in the ad and there’s something there that interests me even more than the Porsches!
What the heck is this thing? It looks like a pedal boat on wheels. Whatever it is, it looks like fun! It would be a lot easier to restore than one of those crusty 944s anyway. Trading can be fun, but I have yet to find a deal that is fair for both sides. Maybe he would trade me this thing for my old Craftsman toolbox? Now that sounds like a fair trade!
The Galaxie or Riviera would suit me better. He could convert the 944 into a rolling toolbox.
If memory serves me that plastic three wheeler was called a PPV. Tommy’s Bike and Hobby in McMinnville Oregon sold them back in the early to mid 70’s. They had a couple they’d let us pedal around to try and drum up sakes, they had safety flags on them. There must be one or two stashed around her somewhere!!
Wow, you never see the kind of flexibility this seller’s showing. He’ll take just about anything for those busted up 944s—shop equipment, camera, TV, computer, tree work, even a Porsche 930 Turbo…..
It’s just a wild guess, but I’m thinking that the chances of that last deal are somewhere between slim and none, but it’s worth a try.
I’d swap him a snap on box no problem….in the same condition as those roaches. Got to admire the guy going for a 930. I have a matchbox 930 I’d deal on.
Of course I don’t know this seller but he appears to be one of those “Wheeler dealer” types.
When it comes to a trade, they usually come across as, what they have is the best and what you have is junk.
I wish him luck.
