Mileage and the history of ownership is unknown. It looks quite simplistic on the inside, but what’s with the loose wiring on the dash?

Is that an aluminum body? If so, it might polish up like an Airstream…

Edit: I see they point out it is a steel body. Too bad!

A bread truck would have an aluminum body but by your comment it’s clear you never actually did this. I helped a friend do that to an airplane years ago and believe me it’s lots (and lots and lots) of hard sweaty work. NEVER again…

When I was a kid, my Dad had an old ’59 GMC bread truck that we used for hauling stuff. The body on that one was fiberglass.

Nice one Woodie! Also, what’s up with that parking meter fastened to the front bumper? Plenty of room for a spare tire in back.

Amusingly, this is what the windshields for Ultra Vans come out of, only trimmed down in the middle on each side with a 3rd pane added between them.

I’m with you JayGryph. UltraVans are all aluminum too! I dig UltraVans.

If you’re just looking for a local hauler it looks okay but it would sure be a money pit if you tried to fix it up to anything close to show quality. Too bad you didn’t find the auction earlier, it would be interesting to look at it first. I personally have a few questions from looking at the photos as I’m sure you do too. The thing that puzzles me the most is that roll-out tray thing in the back. Unless you were loading very light things like baked goods in and out off a loading dock I don’t understand what good it would do. At any rate, please keep us informed if you pull the trigger and buy it!

That “roll-out tray” looks to me to have been purposed to hold a motorcycle, either for transport, work or display. Note the attached hoop, typically used as a wedging spot for a front tire.

Too much work to make it useful. The seller claims that it runs, drives and shifts well is doubtful and can not be assured without brakes. And by the way those extra wheels are not really an added bonus with those shot mixed tires.

When one of these pulled into the local Chevrolet dealership, my friend the Shop Forman had to do the tune-up, because none of the Service Technicians knew what to do with a set of points.

Go for it! If we were all so easily put off by old vehicles in need of rescue, none would ever get saved! This thing is rare, cool, and cheap to buy. I would get it mechanically perfect, and leave it as is, with its great patina, and some ‘Barn Find’ logos on the sides, it is the perfect vehicle for advertising the site. It will also make an excellent parts hauler, as you could take it to a swap meet, and load it up with everything you need for any projects you have on the go….if that is not enough, you also have a useful camper to take to shows, stick a fold away bed in there, fridge, sofa, 60″ flat screen tv, hot tub….. ;) “…………..Sorry, I drifted away there for a moment ;) ……….yeah, as I was saying, haul a car you have bought, or a car you want to sell at a show, sell parts out of it a show etc etc……if that’s not enough reasons to buy it, nothing is! Buy it, enjoy it, and be cool in it! :)
