The ad for this 1991 Lamborghini Diablo is pretty simple: “Car sold as is, No service records, car has 7500km about 6000 miles.” I’m not sure what the motivation behind the ad is? Perhaps they are hiding something or (more likely in my mind) they really don’t want to sell it and are hoping the bidding doesn’t meet the reserve. The ad can be found here on eBay with a current bid of about $70,000 USD and the reserve hasn’t been met yet. Located in Ottawa, Canada lets take a closer look at this cool ride and see if you think it’s “worth the gamble.”
Here’s a great look at the mid-engine 5.7-liter V-12. It was rated at 485 horsepower and was more than enough to turn the extra-wide rear tires. I’m guessing an oil change on this car would run the owner several hundred dollars if not over $1,000 depending on the shop. I would also assume that the owner could afford the maintenance, but for some reason, there are no records.
As you can see the interior is pretty clean. These cars were designed around the driver and are almost like a jet fighter cockpit, even though it’s thirty years old. Hopefully, the inside of the engine is as clean as the inside of the car!
Here’s a shot of the famous “Lambo doors.” If you’re my age, you either had a poster of a Diablo or Countach growing up or you knew someone that did. These cars were a lot of American kids’ introduction to mid-engine exotics and are still iconic to this day. So after looking at this car, do you think not having service records is worth the gamble?
…..Or you could spend $80k on Lottery Scratch Tickets, probably have a better outcome. Is it a salvage title, engine noisy (or blown) or sketchy ownership history (liens)….who knows but you would have to be crazy to jump on this without ANY details. I cannot fathom the single digit IQ of a potential buyer or having so much money to waste due to FOMO (fear of missing out).
Caveat Emptor on this one.
It’ll likely leave your bank account battered and bruised on the side of the road.
That’s if it makes out of the driveway
In some cases the mere color of a car would compel a seller to sell. In this case, to hear from “real” Lamborghini owners (former or current), would be interesting to learn from their input…Continue to innovate not duplicate…
It’s a scam. Same car was posted in 2016 with over 7600 miles. It was flagged as a scam on a UK dealer page.
Seller has zero feedback as a seller and very limited old feedback as a buyer.
Edit: I meant to say ‘km” not “miles”.
Pretty sure that is the same car from the Wolf of Wall Street. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuGfgv_eDEo and we know what happened to it.
Great scene but that’s a 1989 Anniversary Countach.
It looks just like the Fiero kit car of itself.

Why would anyone bother to respond to this ad? I’m not very smart and i wouldn’t.
