Dig out your skinny ties and sharkskin suits. This 1958 Cadillac Sedan de Ville available here on eBay in Riverside, California is here to tell the world that you’ve arrived for a BIN of $5,800 or offer.
In the 1950s Cadillac was America’s aspirational vehicle line and owning one stated that the driver had made it in the red-hot American post-war economy that lifted many to the middle class and boosted others to upper-crust status. The best of anything at the time was almost always referred to as “the Cadillac of…”
The seller of this Caddy states that it has been sitting for over thirty years but whether most of that time was outdoors or inside is not mentioned. Its sun-blasted paint would lead you to believe that it was outdoor storage.
The trunk has the rare “pavement view” option with a number of gaping holes shown in the photos. The seller says that the floors also “need attention”, but they do not have any pictures of them posted. If its original engine is present it should be the 310 horsepower 365 V8 fed through a Carter AFB carburetor, although the El Dorado’s triple carb 335 horsepower V8 was an option.
Even with the sunburned paint and tired chrome, the pillarless four-door body style is stunningly pretty with its aircraft fuselage inspired design and oh-so-perfect fins. As a restoration project, it would be one for the brave since current prices on quality Caddies of this era are not supporting a blank check resto. What do you think: Have you arrived or has that ship sailed?
I told myself I would never buy a beat up luxury car.
The restoration costs would be astronomical.
I would have to put it back to exactly how it came out of the factory and that would break my bank.
A nice one is much cheaper and easy to find.
Too bad it costs so much to make a car like this right. As Miguel said…………..whats the point when you can find one that is done or less tired for much less.
If you know of one that is “done” for “much less” than $5800, please post it, I’ll go take a look!
Who said there is one for less than $5800 that is done?
It is sad to see it like that, but there’s also not many left. What do you do with it, since it would cost and take so much to make it nice again?
Haven’t we seen this one here on BF before? Maybe last year? Looks very familiar. Very sad to see. Not sure what the future holds for this one stunning beauty. Hopefully, someone takes this one on as a labor of love. I have the love for her, just not the bank. Id want to bring her back to a really nice driver .. back when she was just a few years young

10 project vehicles nothing newer than 73
Rough shape.
But four door hardtops are beautiful with all the windows rolled down.
This one will take a lot of work.
I remember when these were used cars and driven by neighbors.
they seemed to get a “new” 10 year old Cadillac every year.
One of them the same color as this one.
Have to maintain the image.
You don’t have to do anything to enjoy this one…..it just looks great as a static display. One could just pop rivet the missing floor sections and get it running. Sometimes the patina is just so perfect. I’d plant this in my backyard and view it from my patio while sipping on bourbon.
My dad bought a new one in ’58. It was a tank. So big that my dad had to get an extension built on our garage to make it fit. Sadly, it was involved in an accident where the frame cracked in ’71 and he got rid of it. But he always kept one of those hubcaps in the garage for the memory

At Barret Jackson at the Mohegan Sun, a very nice 1966 Cadillac Deville went for $8,250. A very nice1968 Coupe deVille Convertible went for $11,000.
I didn’t see them up close, and they are 8-10 years newer, but they appeared to be in great condition. If I was in the market for an older big engined Cadillac, I would have snagged one of these.
