’60s Chevrolet advertisements called the Corvette America’s “only sports car”. The cars were engineered with driving pleasure as the core priority. The 1960 Corvette is a stunning classic car with plenty of charm. The example at hand is said to have just 12,721 miles and is for auction on eBay. The bidding ends on Saturday, January 4th.
The exterior is finished in a beautiful red and cream color combination with a cream top. There are two paint chips around the gas cap cover. There is another on the inner lip of the door. There is a significant scuff on the front right quarter panel. There are several other paint chips and some lifting. None of the exterior damage is too significant to be fixed. The body doesn’t appear to have any rust.
The interior is finished in a stunning bright red throughout. The seats appear to be free of cracks, creases, or damage. The dash is free of scuffs or cracks. The large three-spoke steering wheel is also finished in a matching red. This interior presents exceptionally well. It is the perfect car to take a long cruise to a retro diner or see a movie at your local drive-in.
A V8 engine sends power to the wheels via a manual transmission. The 1960 Corvette offered several engine and transmission configurations. This example is being offered as-is and the seller notes that potential buyers are welcome to have the car checked out by a mechanic. This is a great option for someone who wants a classic car that presents nicely as-is but could use some relatively minor work. This could be a great second car for someone who wants something fun to drive on special occasions or a neat addition for a collector. If you are interested in owning this 1960 Chevrolet Corvette contact the seller on eBay before the auction ends.
“The body doesn’t appear to have any rust.”
Because fiberglass is rust-proof…now its birdcage or frame may be another story…
Nice car but highly skeptical of the mileage claim.
Odometers from back then are very easy to roll back. It’s not hard to pull the cluster, pull out the odometer and fiddle with the wheels. You can even do it if you’re patient, by running a drill on the speedo cable’s wire.
I really like this car except…not another red Corvette!
“Little Red Corvette…Baby You’re Much To Fast…”
A 1960 with 12,721 original miles doesn’t have generic 1970’s/1980’s cast valve covers it a later model Hurst shifter. The ad is awful, it screams either scam or ignorance, the Bronco in their other listing us even worse.

Steve R: I agree with you completely. I am in no way buying the mileage claim. Also, there is just something about the ad that screams scam at worst, and nearly complete ignorance regarding the car at best. If someone cares to take a shot at it, I would highly recommend a thorough in person inspection.
The reason for the paint chips is mis-alignment of body panels. And that ain’t no lacquer paint.
The ad is, actually, quite honest…it’s a ’60, the odo shows 12,721 miles, and sold as is.
Some real due diligence is necessary on this ol’ girl.
high redline tach, who knows if its original or what engine and trans are actually in the car. Could be a 305 with a Saginaw!
What makes you think that it has a “high RPM tach”? I can’t find any mention of the tach, nor does there seem to be any photos showing it. As far as the engine being original to the car, it is not, at least the heads are not.
Picture 14 of 18 shows the redline of the tachometer.

Not sure if the crankcase breathed through the air cleaner ( like PVC) in 1960. This one does. Someone mentioned “bird cage”condition, did the C2 Corvettes have a bird cage type frame?
Steve R. Indeed it does, I stand corrected.
No one mentioned anything about numbers matching. I know manufacturers started stamping engines in the early 60’s but nothing on this car. Were cars authenticated by the numbers in 1960?. Just asking still learning.
