15K Mile Super Truck: 1993 GMC Typhoon

This 1993 GMC Typhoon is a limited production super truck that wears under 20,000 original miles and is one of the very few Typhoons to leave the factory with a roof rack. It’s also decked out in one of the rarer paint codes, wearing Forest Green paint. The truck was purchased from the son of the original owner, who took ownership after his father passed away. The Typhoon and its high-performance sibling, the Syclone, have both been collectible for some time, and time-capsule specimens like this are the ones that are destined to be the most desirable. Find the Typhoon here on eBay with bidding to $22,100 and no reserve.

The Typhoon presents incredibly well, and given it displays license plates from Wyoming, one could assume it’s quite dry underneath. Despite not being wildly different structurally from your standard-issue GMC Jimmy, the two-tone bodywork, fender flares, and big front air dam all combine to give the Typhoon a completely different presence. Despite the performance under the hood, GMC didn’t go overboard when designing the Typhoon, which seemingly aligns with a surprising level of restraint across all of the muscle truck models of the early 90s – the Ford Lightning and Chevy SS were both fairly conservative styling-wise like the GMC.

The interior is absolutely gorgeous, not only for the condition but also for the color scheme against the green exterior. We see a lot of these show up for sale in typical used condition, but this example reminds us how much GM knocked it out of the park with regards to providing impressive performance and nicely trimmed interior accommodations. Obviously, any vehicle that still has the window sticker stuck to the glass should look this good, but it’s clear this Typhoon was truly cherished. The seller notes many more original documents come with the truck, including the buyer’s contract.

The engine bay is spotless, and this is very good news considering how many of these turbocharged trucks have been modified over the years, even nicely preserved examples wherein owners can’t resist the urge to throw an aftermarket chip into the mix. Buying one that’s been left alone is well worth the premium paid not to have to undo someone else’s modifications, or the damage they potentially caused by not behaving according to manufacturer recommendations. There’s little concern of that here, considering the Typhoon presents as a truck purchased to see minimal use and be kept in mint condition for long-term enjoyment. If you see a better one, buy it.

Nicest one I have seen in a long time!

I’d just have to own it if the $ were available, and there was space in the garage.

All kinds of cool cars in the background of listings recently. 1969 SS/RS Camaro? Woooooooo!

Great truck with a fantastic color combo. The only thing I find questionable is why the is the rear wiper not in its proper resting place? I know they tend to slow over time but being how little use this truck got is guess it’s probably nvr been used. Pretty odd that the seller would over look this in such a great looking car.

Looks like it got a BF bump, 24 grand now. I know the mileage is low but that kind of seems like a lot to me. But I understand some might be nostalgic for this. Good for the the seller, especially in this climate!
