This 1960 Fiat Roadster isn’t the only car sitting in the Kansas weeds. Maybe the Mercedes Benz is available as well? This Fiat is parked in Chapman, Kansas and is listed here on craigslist. Steve, the seller, is asking $3,500 for this project.
Steve says that this car is a great barn find! We don’t know if this car is just stored outside without any covering or not? If the car isn’t covered, the condition will only continue to deteriorate. Hopefully there is a tarp that sits on the top frame when photos aren’t being taken? The car is a non-running project that is said to be very complete. We don’t know if the engine spins?
There is some rust present but we don’t know where or how much. Fiats are known to have rust issues and if this one has been outside for long, it like has issues. We can see at least a little rust below the door, so be sure to inspect it closely. There is a rare continental kit on this Fiat, which is an interesting feature. We don’t know if this was a factory option or just added on later? Someone had to cut the rear bumper to accommodate the spare wire and tire. Have you ever seen this on a 1960 Fiat? Are you ready to pull this one out of the weeds?

Early sixties Spiders had a straight four. An option was an O.S.C.A engine developed by the Maserati brothers. The option came with 15″ wheels and disk brakes on all four corners, custom wood steering wheel and a flip up foot rest for the passenger.
This one appears to be of the straight four version. I’m not sure when the twin overhead cam became standard.

What type of person would acquire a very complete 1960 red European sports car, and just drag it to the fence line and leave it out there? Might have had value before they did that. I think it’s really cool, I would love to have one.
I knew of a Fiat OSCA twincam and 5-spd in a basement in rural central Oregon not too long ago, unfortunately the seller didn’t know what it was really worth so had no contact with reality on pricing it. So it’s probably still there.

Restored an O.S C.A. in a robin’s egg blue a few years ago. Very pretty, straight forward resto. Very attractive body, like Sophia Lauren. Lol. Very small source for spares. Luckily the one I did was very complete and solid.

I think this is newer than a ’60. I believe the roadster was still a 1200 in ’60. I don’t know just when the 1500 was launched, but it was out there by ’66 and ’67, and not much earlier. The 1200 has a different grille. So … no title … probably not a ’60 … and everything needs to be done on a beautiful Farina Fiat that’s still … a Fiat. Parts car? Best luck.
Agree with Paul B, worked in. Fiat dealership in the sixties and the 1200 was built until about 1963 and then this model,was introduced and was built until 1967. At this time Fiat introduce the 124 line, sedan, station wagon, sport coupe and spyder.

had several 12 & 15 (or wuz it 1600) hundred spyders in the late 60s while my neighbor kids had GTO 442 and ‘stangs. Usta loose em on the curves but they’d blow by on the straight aways. Lota fun. They shifted sooo smooth – like automatics. The 124s too (but they were 5 speed). Great cars! our old sayins: “Fix It Again Tony”. “Gay Men’s Club”
