1965 Volvo PV544: Fender-Lovin’ Good

1965 Volvo PV544

The classic Volvo PV544 has always struck me as a bit of a Swedish hot rod. Those jacked-up fenders are unlike anything we see on modern Volvos, which is why this 1965 PV544 here on craigslist for $3,000 caught my eye (and because it’d be a great contender for the Barn Finds road rally!) While they are known more for their durability, I always found the oddball styling of the PV544 to be its biggest selling point. That, and the fact these wartime relics launched a successful racing program by participating in SCCA-sanctioned events are among the reasons why the Volvo faithful keep these cars on the road today. While the stock B18 engine is a reliable workhorse, the seller notes that this car has a B20 from a later model 140. Although he’s lost interest in his Volvo project, there’s still a good chance this one can be brought back to life –are you up for the challenge?

Rarely snows there,no salt on the roads. Good place to get a car from. whoever gets it will make out well, either with a good personal car or a money maker. I see alot of cars on here that are just a huge waste of time, not this one

Cool car, looks like a mini 40 Ford.

I always thought they looked like a little ’40 Ford also. My buddy in high school had one, that might have been a little older, since high school days were ’64-’67. Our families weren’t rich and it was a used car at the time. The body style was the same. How far back did this body style go?

This one has been on the market for a while. I believe the seller had another one listed too? I’d still love to pick one of these up. They are supposed to drive much more like a sports car than the archaic exterior would lead you to believe.
