1968 Chevrolet Camaro: Pony Project

1968 Chevrolet Camaro

I know I shouldn’t judge this seller’s photos, but if there was an award for terrible photos in an online listing this one would be a top contender. I understand that not everyone has the skills or equipment to take professional grade photos, but it is hard to overlook the issues with this ad. Most of the photos are either too dark, too blurry, or upside down, making an evaluation of the car rather difficult. Since it is a 327 car it is a desirable pony and thankfully the seller seems to be honest about their car. They claim the floors are solid, but admit that it has rust and damage to the fenders. Given the rust hole in the front end I’m struggling to believe that the floors are perfect, but you never know. It might be worth taking a closer look at this Camaro, so be sure to check it out here on eBay in Tioga, Pennsylvania with a current bid of $7,200. So do you believe the seller’s rust free floor claims?

Could be a case of the wife or ???? telling to sell it or else and this is an attempt to satisfy that request.

I too would have a hard time accepting the floor pans to be intact after seeing how rusty the rest of the car is. Like a bed-wetter’s mattress springs! I look at this and think: total body replacement. Still, I would love to have a ’67 or ’68 Camaro.

Cars always look better in the pictures so you can guess how bad this much be.

Maybe the floor pans are rust free because they were already replaced?

I had a 68 Camaro RS/SS 396 Convertible car in 1971 which was beautiful but cars of that era had rust issues early so if the fenders are that bad I’ll almost bet there’s a lot more rust hidden in that car. If it doesn’t go for much higher than the 8K it is now I’d take it but no more. OH and your correct that he has to be the worst picture taker & poster on ebay.

My wife bought a ’69 Camaro new, we drove it for 14 years, in New England by which time although it looked good from the outside the whole underneath had rusted so badly there was nothing left to weld anything to, the entire floor pan, the subframes, one rear spring was hanging on to the subframe in one place, the other was just there, not attached at either end, you could not shift when braking since the car would bind up, but the interior, if you didn’t look at the floor was still perfect, the engine was fine as was the transmission and posi traction rear. We didn’t drive it more than 25 mph, the kids liked to watch the road under the floor (we just put pieces of plywood over the holes that they could pick up). Sold it for parts to a guy who had a rust free one, with a destroyed by dog interior, and a regular rear differential.

I think the pictures look pretty good—-in comparison to the car.
The pictures are annoying, but both the car and the $8K+ bid are terrifying.

I once owned a similar 1968 with less rust in the same places as well as the rear window channel. The floors and trunk surprisingly did not have the same rust issues as the body panels so it is possible. However, rust-free floors seems improbable with this car. It is much farther gone.

And I could not agree with you more about the photos.

I see it has the rare upside down engine option.

seller has 3 vehicles for sale on ebay and maybe other interesting vehicles in photos background. seller has been on ebay for over 10 years and sold enought items to have 263 feedbacks. yet does not know how to take photos or rotate them so they are worth looking at or is it done to hide something.

LOL, I read the comments about the ad, but didn’t have time today until now to check them out. That is truly one spectacular ad!

The $8000 bid, is literally a shot in the dark.

My favourite; “perfect for the age”.

Meanwhile back here in CA my younger brother just recently purchased an original black plate ’68 Camaro from the second owner, a garage kept rust free 327 car with 3spd floor shift, PS and has factory A/C, dark green with fawn interior. Very nice car and good driver after he did some minor tune up and brake work etc. He was in the right place at the right time, drove it home for $12k.
If that ’68 on eBay is worth $8k+, then my brother scored a car worth at least $20 to 25K.
