Few muscle cars command attention quite like a 1969 Dodge Charger R/T, and this blue example listed on eBay has plenty to interest dedicated Mopar enthusiasts. Under the hood is a 440-cubic-inch high-performance V8, which the seller says is numbers-matching, along with matching body numbers. The original transmission is gone, but a period-correct 727 automatic is in its place. The seller has owned the Charger for more than five years and admits it hasn’t been driven regularly.

The biggest challenge here is rust, and the seller provides a detailed rundown of the problem areas. The driver’s-side front frame rail, inner and outer rocker panels, torsion bar mount, and complete floor pan assembly all need attention. The rear seat pan might be repairable, while the driver’s-side rear frame rail is reportedly soft near its end. The trunk floor, spring perches, drop-offs, and wheelhouses also need work. The seller believes portions of the inner wheelhouses could be saved but acknowledges that more rust may be discovered during disassembly.

Fortunately, there are some encouraging details. According to the seller, the roof and cowl appear solid, while the fenders and doors are in decent condition. The trunk lid has some rust, but a new AMD passenger-side quarter panel comes with the car. The interior is described as mostly complete, which could give the next owner a useful starting point. Still, with structural rust among the known problems, this is clearly a major restoration rather than a quick weekend project.

The eBay listing shows 73,000 miles, although the seller doesn’t provide documentation confirming the car’s actual mileage. It also lists a clean title. There’s no clear statement about whether the 440 currently runs, so that’s another important question for prospective buyers. While eBay categorizes the body style as a sedan, the seller identifies it as a two-door Charger R/T.

This Charger certainly needs someone with the skills, resources, and patience to bring it back. But for an enthusiast who has always wanted a 1969 R/T with its reportedly original 440, the opportunity to save a genuine piece of Mopar muscle could be worth the effort.

Might as well just find another body for the rebuild. It sounds like there’s too much rust to make it worth the time to salvage it. That’s probably why they’re selling? it. I didn’t see a price in the story.
