Running Project: 1969 Plymouth Road Runner 383

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

This 1969 Plymouth Road Runner is said to be a running, numbers matching muscle car that is ready for restoration. The car is located in Lewiston, Idaho and is listed for sale here on eBay. The odometer is said to read 96,077. The seller has listed the Road Runner at a price of $19,995 but has also added an option for a potential buyer to make an offer. The car was originally green with a white vinyl interior. There are 15 days remaining in the listing.

The 383 cubic inch V8 engine has been freshly rebuilt and is said to run great. The numbers matching block was bored 0.060″ over and stuffed with Speed Pro Forged Pistons. The car has its factory 906 heads and is said to have a compression ratio of 9.3:1. The listing on eBay states a number of details about the engine rebuild including what aftermarket parts were used and which factory parts were kept. The sale of the car does come with the factory Edelbrock intake and Holley carburetor in the trunk.

The interior is in need of restoration and the carpet has been removed. There are a number of videos and pictures in the eBay ad showing the details of the car and its restoration. The 727 automatic transmission is also rebuilt. As seen above, this is a column shift car and their are aftermarket AutoMeter gauges under the dash. The 8 3/4″ rear end houses 3:23 gears in the differential. I have found that this gearing is one of the best gears for performance and driveability in town and on the highway. The rear window glass is not installed and the front windshield is not adhered in place.

The original color that is still on some of the panels is F5 Limelight Metallic Green. The car originally had a white vinyl top which has since been removed. The car has power steering but not power brakes. I am not sure if the car is equipped with its original wheel covers. It looks like a lot of mechanical work has already been completed so this car just needs cosmetic work.

Seems like a decent deal since most of the mechanicals have been completed. This would have been unusual with the white top and interior; thhe bucket seats w/ console shift also.
The build sheet would be nice…
BTW the wheel covers look to be from a Belvedere.

My dad had a 1968 Plymouth Fury with these hubcaps.

Want flow-through ventilation? Jam the brakes hard at speed, and you got it! Why didn’t the seller take time to anchor the windshield in? Such a minor job considering how much he’s asking.

No need to insult someone who has an honest sincere question. Perhaps you skipped your meds this morning? We all can’t be the smartest guy in the room. Don’t be a turd.

” Cosmetic work ” must include a lot of rust repair.

If it is native to the NW corner of the USA rust is not a big issue unless you leave things outside unpainted for a while even Inland like Lewiston.

If I remember right, ROAD RUNNERS didn’t come with carpet, and I pretty sure they didn’t have a vinyl top, That stuff was save for the GTX, The Road Runner was a bare bones muscle car, and those hubcaps were for a Belvedere / Satellite. JMHO

I bought a Roadrunner new when I was discharged from the Army. Yes it was what we called a taxi cab body and interior but it did have carpet! 383, 4sp., Red stripe wide oval tires with dog dish hub caps. Loved that car and still love the looks of those cars.
