At one time in its life, this Corvette was supposedly a street racer. Now what that means, we don’t really know, but it certainly has some impressive upgrades! You can’t really go wrong with a red Corvette with a big engine and a four speed, or can you? The seller doesn’t provide a reason for why it was parked back in ’92, but if I had to guess I would say either rust killed it or the driver got too many speeding tickets in it. If you have money to spend and a need for speed, this blown 454 Corvette might be for you. It looks like it would take a lot of work to get it back to stock, but you could just get it running. Patina just doesn’t go well with Corvettes so there’s a lot of body and paint work to be done. If this is a real matching numbers 454 it could be worth some serious money in stock form, but it would take a lot to get it there. The big question here is rust. These cars can look solid on the outside, but have a chassis that’s rusted away. If you’re interested in taking a risk on this one, you can find it listed here on craigslist in St. Louis for $13,500 with the blower or $10,500 without it.

Ummm…
How well did big block engines take to being supercharged?
I wonder if it is a steel crank, 4 bolt mains engine, or something lesser?
Someone who knows what to look for should be giving this a close inspection. Could be a great and fun project, or it could wind up being the “Headache of America”.
Clearcoat it and leave it like it is? I’ll have some of what he’s having, PLEASE!
I don’t need better pics to see the weathering is uneven and unattractive, and what’s up with the black driver’s side fender? Don’t mistake me – I’m all for preserving the history of this car. Otherwise it would just be another 1970 Vette. but why drive around in something that’s just plain u-g-l-y? Also, I’m not familiar with Vette prices but isn’t this price a bit on the high side for a 1970 Vette big block that needs paint & bodywork? Seriously, I don’t know…
Not a big Vette guy but I would be torn between restoring it back to original or repairing the body damage and any rust issues that pop up while getting mechanicals in order which he doesn’t state how or if it runs & shifts properly then hit the streets looking for victims. If repaired it looks to be one badass car but I would need more info before offering him any cash.
Glassed in front fiberglass bumper cover. It will be difficult to repair.
I have been restoring corvettes for 30 yrs this one is worth about $9500.00 at best
it will take 15k to bring it back…..
