The original Dodge Challenger was only around for five years but is highly regarded today. When it arrived on the scene in 1970, it was the last pony car to enter the market (and one of the first to leave in 1974). The Challenger was as much a muscle car as it was a pony, and you could order one like this with a 383 cubic inch V8 (which was also standard in the R/T). It last ran 15 years ago, and the effects of Mother Nature can be seen in the photos (likely some outdoor storage though the seller indicates otherwise).

Nearly 77,000 Challengers left the assembly line in 1970, and only 10,000 had six-cylinder engines. Meaning the other 67,000 had V8s starting with the 318 and going all the way up to the 426 Hemi. The seller’s car was sold new with a 383, but that was replaced some time ago with a 360, an engine that the Challenger didn’t get before 1973. The health of that engine is unknown, but the seller will throw in a 383 (not the original) for the “right price”.

Rust will be the biggest obstacle in restoring this 1970 Challenger. The seller provides ample photos, including those of the undercarriage, and things there aren’t pretty. But we’re told the Mopar is complete, but some parts will likely need replacing anyway. At one time, this Dodge wore a vinyl top (black to go with orangeish paint?) and some corrosion is present where it once was.

Located in Locust Grove, Georgia, this vehicle will be sold without a title. Unless the seller can get a bonded title before the auction ends (he/she is working on that now).
