1971 Whitby Morrison: Ice Cream Anyone?

Robert R found this cute little thing listed here on eBay in New Windsor, Maryland. Whitby Morrison has been around since 1962 and they are still busy building ice cream vending vehicles. They build everything from tricycles to vans. This odd and cute little van is a stalled project. The owner has completed a lot of work and spent a lot of money on it, no doubt. Bids are at about $2,500, but the reserve has not been met. Do you think this little truck will find a home? And if so, do you see it being used as a working ice cream truck or just as an oddball cruiser? Special thanks to Robert for the tip!

Not nescessarily to drive thru neighborhoods, but to go to events ( like car shows) or along a sidewalk in a downtown area. to paint it a loud color, with some sort of a “mascot” on it . Now would be the perfect time to get it , work on it during the winter, and prep it for spring, summer . Ice cream and ” healthy” smoothies . lots of potential to be a money maker

Heck with money making or a repaint, that to me just screams ‘drive it as is’ because it’d be hard to find something more quirky than that thing. It IS adorable, and would be lots of fun to putt around in. Although, I must strongly recommend that you bring some ice cream with you to hand out because you will be asked by curious people.

This would be cool to finish and take to car shows to “SHOW AND SELL” ice cream, I just wouldn’t pay much more than what’s already bid with the work still needed on this thing.

I say paint some flames on the sides, swap out the freezers for smokers, crank up the Armor Hot Dog song and cruise the neighborhoods selling bar-be-queue out of this thing and rake in the dough! Maybe get a few local brews on tap as well, or just sell it by the bottle. That would be a good time :-)

I’ve got one almost fully finished..
I restored it in 2000 and we ran it making money..but was in a hit and run in 2008. I started repairing it but cancer sidelined me. Would let it go for about $7000. It has everything to make money.. if you want information.
