The presentation of this 1976 Corvette appears to be close to faultless, and this is entirely understandable if the mileage claim made by the owner is accurate. During its 46-years on the planet, the Corvette is claimed to have accumulated a mere 6,374 genuine miles on its odometer. It is now set to go to a new home, and it could potentially be yours. The Corvette is located in Tyngsboro, Massachusetts, and has been listed for sale here on eBay. Strong bidding has pushed the price along to $10,922, but the reserve hasn’t been met.
The owner of the Corvette is not particularly forthcoming about the story of this vehicle, so it isn’t clear why its accumulated mileage is so low. There have been a few nice C3 Corvettes surfacing in recent times, and this does look like a good one. The Dark Green Metallic paint appears to be close to faultless, and there are no signs of any issues with the vehicle’s fiberglass panels. The tinted glass all looks to be in good condition, while the aluminum alloy wheels appear to be free of any staining or physical damage. A T-Top was a standard feature of the Corvette Coupe by this stage, and the fitment of the panels for this one look to be good. There are no signs of any leaks or other potential problems.
The Grey-trimmed interior of the Corvette presents just as nicely as the rest of the car. The driver’s seat shows the tiniest hint of stretching in the leather, but you really have to look to spot it. The rest of the interior, including all of the vulnerable plastic, appears to be free of any problems. Interiors that are upholstered in lighter colors have a tendency to tell the story if a car hasn’t been treated with care and respect, and this one seems to tell a pretty positive story. One of the key areas when considering these indicators is the carpet, and the grey carpet fitted to this car appears to be free of any stains or wear. Comfort features fitted to the Corvette include air conditioning, power windows, a tilt/telescopic wheel, and an AM/FM radio.
The owner doesn’t give a lot away with the Corvette, but we do know that it is fitted with the base-spec 350ci V8, pumping out 180hp. This is backed by a 3-speed automatic transmission, while power steering and power brakes were a standard feature in the Corvette by this point in time. The owner provides no photos of the engine bay, which is really frustrating. The cleanliness of an engine is a great indicator when considering the validity of a mileage claim, but we don’t receive that opportunity. The owner also doesn’t indicate whether he holds any evidence to back those mileage claims, but he does say that the Corvette runs and drives really well.
There’s no doubt that this 1976 Corvette presents nicely, and if the owner’s claims regarding low mileage can be verified, then it makes this a fairly special vehicle. It is a classic that appears to have no obvious problems or issues and is equipped with a bullet-proof and reliable engine and transmission combination. It is a vehicle that has the potential to last for a good many years to come, and maybe it would even make a pretty decent sort of family heirloom. It certainly has the potential to be around for that long.
Not to be a wise guy, but is this really a ‘76? I thought the ‘76 model had the 4-spoke “Vega” steering wheel? Perhaps this is really a ‘77? Looks great though, be happy to have it on my garage.
8166127823 I have money to buy it. I’ve never done this. Before but I’ve dreamed of a Vette all my 62 years on the planet please call.
That is a later model steering wheel most likely a 77 from looking at the horn button.
Yup, noted that right away. ’76 Vette’s are very distinct for that reason. And this car has a ’76, not ’77, VIN.
That color makes this car .
I’m guessing that might have been a rare choice in 76.
No engine pics is bad for selling.
No engine pixs reminded me once of the
1974 vert vette i had where the-hood cable broke..was that fun to fix ..and a nightmare with no room to get the hood open… 😮
It made me put hidden second emergency punch out cables on all future Corvette vehicles that were hidden in the wiper compartments each side attached to the release levers under the grates 😏
If one has a vette look at the no space area under your hood and you will get the effective but simple DR plan 😎
Thank you. I can’t believe not 1 photo of the engine compartment? With claims of this low of mileage & being a dealer, how about a photo of the undercarriage too?
Been there done that on my 71. Not fun.
Seller is a dealer near me. It is on his web site at 25000. A tad optimistic I think.
A tad? Absolutely dreaming of fantasy land at $25k. It’s an odd-color smog Vette.
Might be a late 1976 production model. It has the 1977 steering wheel that GM started fitting to the 1976.
No 76’s were built with the later 3 spoke leather wrapped wheel, and this 76 is not a late build car either. The Certification sticker on the driver’s door, shows the build date as October 75.
The 4 spoke “Vega” wheel was used on all 76’s, and also 77-79’s with the standard, straight column. The leather wheel only came on 77-79’s when the optional Tilt & Tele column was ordered. For 80 to 82, the T & T column was standard, and so was the leather wheel.
There’s a kit available for about $100, that has the hub, bell and hardware needed to replace the 4 spoke wheel with a 3 spoke wheel, which is likely what was done to this car.
and were those wheels available in 1976?
Yes. I had a 1976. They were available in prior years but there were quality problems. (Surprise!) 1976 was the first year for full production.
Bidding closed at 14,800.
Reserve not met.
Surprised on a bid of 14 grand on this car. A driver is all it is. The mileage saves it. Had a 75 and it was the slowest Vette I ever owned.
Guess Tyngsboro Motors didn’t get their price as the bid has ended. Shame…saying that sarcastically.
Nothing special except the low mileage, if real. Otherwise maybe a $12k car if that. Only thing ‘vette’ about this is the shape. Had a ’70 vert w/ a built 350/350 M22 that ran like a raped ape. At the same time, traded in ’92, an ’82 HD Sturgis I bought new, for a ’78 Vette silver ann edition, auto. Swear my dads ’72 Chevy C10 pickup w/ a 350/4sp, ran faster…at a half ton overweight with his Hobart welding machine & tanks/torch set in back! Only ‘good’ memory with that Vette was driving home 2 girls sitting on each’s lap from a strip club for a long night pretending it was the ’80’s’, as it wasn’t the ride that caught them lol!
77 steering wheel. I worked on these cars new. This color was rare. Would be even better with the matching interior which was available. I have a 73. These cars are getting more attractive to buyers. C2s are stupid money and 68 to 72 getting there. Automatic kills it for me. If L82 stick I would bid.
Auto. kills it for me too George. But if it has a air pump on it ? get rid of it. put a K&N air filter in it , set of headers and a Edelbrock carb. should gain 50hp. ? This car should sell for 10-12k. As always IMHO. Later………………….JIMMY
Very, very glad to see some expressions of doubt by Adam regarding the mileage. I’m fairly new here, and was astonished to observe how it appeared all the low mileage claims were being believed. Unless well documented, I find it extremely difficult to accept the claims. Unless there really are that many folks who bought a vehicle only to store it away.
