24k Mile 1991 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

Chevrolet’s C4 Corvette spent years in the wilderness as many enthusiasts focused on its predecessors. However, it is now recognized as a car that provides an excellent combination of luxury and performance. This 1991 Convertible presents beautifully, which is unsurprising considering it has a genuine 24,447 miles on its odometer. It seems to need nothing but a new home, with the seller listing it here on Craigslist in Omaha, Nebraska. They set their price at $24,500, and I must say a big thank you to Barn Finder T.J. for using a finely tuned classic radar to spot this beauty.

Like its predecessor, the C4 Corvette enjoyed a long production life. The first cars landed in Chevrolet showrooms for the 1984 model year, with the last car rolling off the line in June 1996. Sales figures varied widely during the C4’s life, with the 1991 total of 20,639 proving the second lowest in the generation’s history. Our feature car is 1-of-5,672 Convertibles ordered, and its presentation is hard to fault. Its Code 42 Turquoise paint shines beautifully, with the faultless Black soft-top providing a striking contrast. There are no visible paint or panel flaws or evidence of prior repairs. The trim is excellent, while the distinctive aluminum alloy wheels are free from stains or other problems. The first impression is positive, suggesting this Corvette has led a sheltered existence.

The supplied interior photos are inconclusive because they don’t offer a glimpse of the C4’s most notable weakness. The Corvette was no more prone to plastic or trim issues than any other vehicle from this era, but the heavily bolstered outer seat edges could wear heavily. The passenger seat looks fine, but I’d like to see how the leather on the driver’s seat has survived. If that is okay, it leaves little to criticize. The remaining upholstered surfaces look good, as do the carpet, dash, and console. There are no apparent needs, and for a car from this era, it comes equipped with some excellent comfort appointments. The new owner receives air conditioning, power windows, power locks, a power driver’s seat, power mirrors, a leather-wrapped tilt wheel, and a Delco Bose AM/FM radio/cassette/CD player.

We receive no engine photos for this Corvette, but the seller supplies plenty of relevant information. Powering this car is a 350ci V8 that sends 245hp to the rear wheels via the desirable six-speed manual transmission. While some journalists criticized the performance potential, this car’s ability to storm the ¼-mile in 14.36 seconds on its way to 157mph demonstrates that it could get up and moving if poked with a sharp stick. The seller states the car spent years in hibernation, helping explain the odometer reading of 24,447 genuine miles. They outlayed considerable cash working through its revival. The car received a new Bola stainless steel exhaust, a new clutch, a new flywheel, and a complete service. They cleaned the injectors, flushed the cooling system, and replaced all fluids. The Corvette runs and drives perfectly, ready to hit the road with a new owner behind the wheel.

Values of early Corvettes have climbed steadily, with many focusing on the C1, C2, and C3 versions. The C4 remained largely forgotten, although a new generation of enthusiasts recognizes they offer a lot and remain relatively affordable. How long that trend will continue is unclear, as values are climbing faster than the market average. It means that those serious about allowing a C4 into their life might need to act quickly before they move beyond the average person’s reach. This one is a gem, and life behind the wheel would be an ideal way to spend some leisure time on a sunny day. Do you agree?

The problem I have at my age is getting in and out of one of these without a lot of contortions and grunting, otherwise I’d own one, and I would prefer it to be this color.

Todd, I feel your pain. I have a C3 it’s not easy for us Big & Tall guys anymore. This will be my last sports car Sorry to say they are so low, getting in an out. I’ve had 4 low slung sports cars loved them all but my next classic will be a Truck!

I have a c6 and after 2 years now it really was hurting my back. I got it fixed now but I’ve had to change my entry/exit procedure. I’m 6’4” but also only 57 so it was frustrating. I’m going to the next local corvette show and I’m going to watch all the old timers (which is most of them) and see how they do this.

Right there with you Tom, sold my 1989 Vette convertible about 4 years ago, it was sapphire blue with a tan top and cognac interior, 47K original miles! Beautiful car, but a pain to get in and out of. Now I drive my resto-mod ’57 Chevy pickup and ’41 Dodge COE car hauler!

Weak excuse to not getting one. You’re going to be dead for an awfully long time, so start contorting and grunting…… Peace out

This being a manual trans puts this example over the top. The asking price is all the money though.

Many years ago, I considered getting a Corvette, but didn’t because I knew I’d get bored with it within 6 months.
Fast forward 40 years….. I want a Corvette again. But not as a daily driver, so I don’t think I’ll get bored with as fast. Always liked the ’84 through ’96, and this color really makes it stand out. But I hate shifting. I know how to drive a manual, I just don’t like to. If this was an automatic I would consider taking out a loan.

I agree, I bought a convertible for enjoyment comfort reasons ONLY. At 58, you can’t be serious about racing through the streets and these last 3 decades they’ve made points on a license a killer. But riding luxuriously in my 95 is truly a dream. Too much to say in a short reply.

I always liked this color back then and the 6spd would be fun unless in heavy traffic. Nice car.

Nice looking 91, but the price seems high to me. 92 and up had LT1 with 55 more horse, traction control, and nice ones can be bought for less than this.
Shouldn’t have needed a clutch at 24k miles, those clutches are pretty tough.

You guys have got to quit putting these cars on the website. Your are causing me consternation! My Nova SS is ready to go to the paint shop. Decided years ago to paint it Marina Blue. Then you showed me a Mustang painted Emberglo, which got me thinking about Aztec Bronze. Now you show this ‘Vette in Turquoise, and it looks great! Maybe I should just paint it Resale Red and forget about it!

My 1st Vette was this exact color. I bought it in 96 . Mine had camel interior. Bought with 18 k miles. Brother said it was the ugliest color. I said as I was pulling away from dealer if it was red would you buy it. He said yes. I turned around traded my 95 gt stang with 14k Miles and bought it. I loved the color combo

    I’m not a big guy (5′-10″) who owns a 2004 Corvette convertible.
The best way to get in and out is to basically be 90 degrees to the car, drop your butt in and swivel towards the steering wheel.
Same thing getting out. Turn so that you are again 90 degrees, plant your feet and stand up.
My wife made me laugh out loud when she said “if we go to a party with me wearing a skirt, it won’t be pretty getting out!”
The driving experience makes up for it though. Pretty fast, amazing handling.
It is a 6 speed manual and fun to drive, but that’s because we live in the country.
I try to avoid driving it to Toronto where rush hour traffic takes the fun out of a manual.
Being 68 right now, I hope to be able to drive it till 80???
Oh yeah, I do like the featured Vette.

I’m 77, 6’5”/280 & it works for me getting into my ‘91 coupe too. But as the years pile up it sure doesn’t get any easier!

It will be a lot harder when you’re dead. I’m 75 6’3/175, have a Porsche and Jaguar convertibles and as difficult as it may be to get in and out of, is one of my true joys, and is more effective than psychotherapy.

As long as we are sharing secrets, 6′-1″, 200lbs, Age 70. 1995 6-speed coupe. No issues with getting in and out (The 90 degree method) DON’T YANK ON THE STEERING WHEEL!

Toronto rush hour(s) would certainly take the gloss off the 6-speed as they are long and relentless.

GO LEAFS! It’s this year or never for me.

Sorry, it’s the Bruins year this year – I hope and pray!

I had a C3 and I would be happy if I could still get out of it at 70. I’m 61 now with a fresh knee replacement (still limping along with a cane), so hoping for the best.

PRA4SNW good luck with your knee rehabilitation.
The Bruins have an unbelievable team this year!
Having said that, their drought is nowhere near as long as the Leafs.
Let’s talk again in a month or so.
As for driving a Vette, it’s worth the aches and pains once you hit the open road!

Robert L.: Yes, the Leafs are overdue and if not the Bruins, then they would be my pick.

I agree on the Vette. I sold mine in 2017 and need to get another one someday.

Robert, man did we ever get our arses handed to us by the Panthers.

I was of course very disappointed by the way the Bruin’s season ended, but I really did enjoy the season they gave us.

I was going to reach out to you too.
So very disappointing for both of our teams.
I hate to say it, but I really couldn’t care less who wins the cup.
Way too many years of disappointment.
        Take care PRA4SNW!

Robert, I feel the same way. I love pro hockey and watch every Bruins games, but once they are eliminated, I can’t watch another game.

Now everyone is crazy here for the Celtics, but they are another letdown team. Plus, I’m not a big basketball fan,
