By 1973, the Pontiac GTO had already lost its status as a separate model and had been demoted to just an options package for the LeMans. However, with buyer preferences changing in the early seventies about as quickly as fashion trends nowadays, it was noble that the brand was still focusing on this dying segment of enthusiasts who still wanted a muscle car. This 1973 GTO here on Facebook Marketplace could use a restoration, but it’s running, as is the 1973 Luxury LeMans that’s the other half of this package deal. This pair of Pontiacs is located in Plano, Illinois, and you can score them both for $7,500. Hans H., thanks for your praiseworthy Poncho tip here!

The only information we get about the engine is that it’s a 400, and that the seller has driven both cars in the past, but not recently. While the exterior of the GTO isn’t exactly appealing, most of the panels seem straight for the most part, though a few areas with what is hopefully light corrosion can also be seen. Interestingly, the seller never points out the most unusual feature outside, which is the sunroof on top. This was indeed an option for the LeMans in 1973, available with both manual and power control, but it’s unknown whether this one came from the factory or was added later.

Things inside aren’t aesthetically pleasing either, with all the seats needing new upholstery and the driver’s bucket appearing as though one or more springs may have failed. Other items that will certainly require attention include the carpeting and dash pad, but for me, the single biggest eyesore is that steering wheel. It’s a much later Pontiac helm, and it seems incompatible in every sense of the word for a 1973 GTO, or even a LeMans, for that matter.

The white Luxury LeMans is deemed the donor car, and it’s reported to be a solid example from Nevada. Unfortunately, the interior doesn’t appear much better than the GTO’s, but I’m not convinced this one is so far gone that it’s only good for a parts car. I’d like to see both of these 1973 Pontiacs saved, but ultimately, the fate of the LeMans will be up to the next owner. How would you move forward with this pair of Colonnades?

Lots of work ahead, but worth it if you love Pontiacs!!
My Colonnades choice is a 73 Olds 442 w/455.
Mine too!
I like the Supreme body style better , but yeah, of the colonnades l, a ’73 Olds with a 455 would probably be the top.
