Unfortunately, crazy asking price for a “meh” berlinetta version of Camaro with absolutely zero WOW factor.
It says make offer. Have to start somewhere. Car rides and drives like new. Inspections welcome. 3 owner times capsule. The original owner was a priest. This car will appeal to a collector looking for something different or someone who has a sentimental attachment. You won’t find a nicer one. Yes it’s not a Z28, but it’s hard to find unmolested or modified cars in this era. Most were engine swapped and beat to heck. Thanks for the comment, it gave me a chance to add to the post.
Your Camaro is absolutely beautiful Mikecio1. I wouldn’t change a thing, not even the 267. They were good economical reliable motors. Love the color combination too. I hope it goes to a good new home.
Honestly, I didn’t know the Camaros of this era were even offered with the mundane 4.4L (268 cid) V8 engine. All these years I always thought the smallest V8 was the 5.0L (305 cid) engine. I guess you really do learn something new everyday.
Chevrolet marketed it as the 267.
The 4.4L (267) was offered by Chevrolet starting in 1979 until the 1982 model year. It was an attempt to appease the EPA with cleaner burning engines. Same thing happened over at Ford when they offered a 4.2L V8 (255 cubic inch) in the Mustang for the 1980-1981 model year.
The 255 V-8 was also available in the Mercury Cougar and Ford Thunderbird.
They even came with a pitiful V6. My ex wife had one, it was a gutless wonder.
V8 was only a $50 option !
My first car was a 79 Berlinetta that I purchased in 81 while in high school. Black exterior and red interior with T-tops. I so regret letting it go. If this one had T-tops I’d be all over it.

Rusty Jones, ha! What a scam. Can’t believe these cars not even in Z28 form draw that kind of $ now. Just saw a fairly clean ’79 in similar options sell instantly. Just goes to show you who’s buying them and who has that kind of $ to spend on a toy like that, and it sure ain’t the younger generations.

When do all us smart people believe this is an original 34,000 mile car just because it doesn’t show it’s been turned over because it can’t. It may have it’s original parts but jeez guys, how stupid are we now.
Well, I know one thing – it is WORLD’S better than the ’82! Trust me, I owned one and sent it back to the dealership after 6 months due to way too many issues (plastic door, hatch and interior compartments), not to mention the electrical gremlins that plagued the car. The shop knew me when I pulled in even before getting out of the car. Given a choice of a last year model Camaro or the first-year model Camaro, I will shoot for the older one every time. This one looks very nice, with a great paint job and interior. The 4.4 is a little anemic, but this was meant more for casual driving, not gonzo driving. The $25K is always negotiable, so I wouldn’t sweat that number.
We had a 79′ Berlinetta almost identical to this. Ours had the 305/2bl. Same color and stripes. The seats and door panels were different in 79′. It wasn’t a power house, but it was great to just get on the interstate and cruise.
