There are few things sadder than when an enthusiast is forced to part with a beloved classic due to deteriorating health. That is the story behind this 1956 Chevrolet 210 Post. It is a wonderful and solid custom featuring mechanical specifications that provide excellent performance and promise years of reliable service. It is guaranteed to turn heads as a high-end driver, with the current owner electing to list it exclusively with us at Barn Finds with an asking price of $35,000.

When choosing a candidate for a project build, finding the right vehicle can sometimes be challenging. The current owner located this 210 in around 2005 or 2006. He didn’t start work until 2009, cutting out the only rust, which was in the front floor, and welding in new steel to return the Chevy to a rock-solid state. After that, it was a matter of massaging the exterior to perfection before applying the beautiful Deep Red Metallic paint. The chrome trim pieces were dispatched to the platers for refurbishment, with the remaining pieces polished to a mirror finish. The results justified the time, effort, and cost, because this old classic makes a wonderful visual statement. The depth of color is almost deep enough to walk into, with the trim providing an ideal contrast. The seller indicates that there are minor paint imperfections, as the owner enjoyed their creation, but the overall appearance is comfortably acceptable for anyone seeking an eye-catching driver-grade vehicle. Rounding out the exterior are 17″ Billet Specialties wheels, wrapped in wide Sumitomo tires.

The owner followed a tried-and-true path with their build, guaranteeing fantastic performance and years of reliable service. They sourced a 350ci GM Crate Engine, dressed it in lashings of billet aluminum and chrome, and slotted it into the engine bay. The driving experience should be effortless, with the small-block teamed with a TH-350 automatic transmission, and power assistance for the steering and four-wheel drum brakes. The engine is topped with a GM Performance aluminum intake and a Holley carburetor, while Aluma-coat headers send the spent gases to a 2½” stainless exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers. A GM electronic ignition system provides a strong spark, and the aluminum radiator and flex fan ensure that this gem doesn’t run hot. The “total package” approach included installing a complete set of new springs, shocks, and bushings, and the installation of sway bars at both ends provide sure-footed handling. The owner enjoyed his creation for several years, clocking around 5,000 miles before deteriorating health made this impossible. The 210 hibernated for a while, but has been returned to active service after being carefully revived. A couple of pumps of the pedal and the small-block leaps into life from cold. It exhibits very healthy oil pressure and runs cool. There are no identified mechanical issues, with the vehicle performing well and developing plenty of power.

This classic’s interior received as much TLC as the rest of the car during the build, with the owner dismantling it to fit Cool It thermo mats on the floors and trunk pan. He repainted the dash and refurbished the bright trim as a wonderful contrast. The floors wear new carpets, and the TH-350 is operated by a B&M Ratchet Shifter. The seats and door cards now sport custom Black and Silver vinyl trim, with the interior also featuring ice-cold air conditioning and an aftermarket stereo. The only criticism that could be levelled at this interior is the deterioration visible on the driver’s side of the front seat. It is unclear why this occurred, but a slipcover would hide the problem while the buyer contemplates how they would address this shortcoming. A competent upholsterer should have no trouble stitching in replacement material, and doing so would guarantee that the interior receives nothing but favorable comments due to its excellent appearance.

The current owner has invested considerable time and effort into building this 1956 Chevrolet 210 Post, leaving no stone unturned in their quest to create something genuinely special. It is an injustice that he can no longer enjoy his work, but there are undoubtedly enthusiasts out there who can carry that flame as they prowl the streets behind the wheel of this stunning classic. Its lack of rust and sensible drivetrain configuration means that it should provide many years of faithful and reliable service, while maintenance will be a walk in the park due to the ready availability of parts. The seat deterioration could be addressed during the upcoming colder months, while the new owner can immediately savor classic motoring pleasure during the remaining sunny summer days. Are you tempted? I will understand if you are.

Beautiful. The ’56s were a nice clean design and a great lead in for the popular ’57 just like my ’54 510 was for the ’55s. Great example here.

I think the asking price is very fair for this car. The 210 is very desirable and all the work on this car seems to be done very well. There are things that I wouldn’t have done but they are easy changes. I would love to have this car and tweak it to my taste.

    Hey everyone!
    Yeah, me again .. LOL
Assisting this family in getting the car sold.
After all the work that was done and the multiple other cars he has, not sure why he kept the drums .. BUT … They are power and they stop the car very well.
This is a very solid build, great condition and has had a bunch of interest, so I’m pretty sure she won’t be sitting for very long.
The car is in Naples, FL. Most of the cars I sell for people are in CT, however, I’m selling several cars for this family, so it was worth the trip to FLA to shoot this great looking 56.
I have about 400 more photos and several videos on my website, let me know if you have any questions or would like the link to them.

Thanks for the positive comments! and the write up Adam!

We live in Punta Gorda – just 90 min from Naples. But we spend the summers in Cleveland, OH – and won’t be returning to FL until mid-October. Doubtful this car is still around. But you mentioned other cars he has or that you represent. How is the best way for us to contact each other? I don’t mind giving you my email address but prefer not to post it here for the whole world to see. Thoughts?

After he finished the build he only clocked 5k miles before his health induced a sale ? Just saying the drivers side of the front seat looks like more than 5k miles.
