350 V8 Restomod! 1957 Chevrolet 3100

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

This pickup has the body of a vintage 1950s truck with the guts and features of a more modern vehicle. According to the VIN, this Chevrolet began life as a 3100 Series truck with an inline-6 engine. A “3-on-tree” manual transmission would have been a likely companion. Lowered and sporting custom rims and shiny black paint, this pickup looks ready to rumble on a Saturday night.

The VIN on this Chevy identifies it as a 1956 model yet the seller identifies it as a 1957 unit. But so much else about the truck has turned the clock ahead by some 50 years. A 350 cubic inch V8 sits under the hood, paired with a TH-400 automatic transmission. The air shocks in the rear are new as are the rims and tires. The front end (we assume suspension) was lifted from a Camaro of unknown vintage. And, vintage air conditioning has been added to make the ride more comfortable.

When did this transformation take place? Recently or sometime back? We don’t know though the odometer reading is a scant 1,157 miles. The truck now has an electronic gauge layout in the dash along with GPS and Bluetooth. The bed area supports a wood inlay which looks really sharp. Indications are all this work was professionally done.

The Chevy comes with a clear California title though it’s being offered in Las Vegas, Nevada. The asking price here on Barn Finds Classifieds is $17,500 but the truck has also been placed out for auction here on BidLastAndFast, too. Does that make the Barn Finds opportunity potentially a sweeter deal?

@ $17.5K he must really need the dough, or that’s all it’s worth for the shape it’s in.

Auction is now $30,500. Why didn’t someone just buy it on the Barn Finds Classified for the $17,500?

You couldn’t have. It isn’t made clear, but it’s an ad to get people to go to its auction, was not a fixed price someone could have acted on and purchase.

I have nearly the same setup in my 55 F100. Early 70,s Camaro front end and still had the 305 when I purchased it. I replaced with an early LT1 crate engine and crate B&M built 400 turbo. It will now travel down the road sideways in 2nd gear…not that I’d ever do such a thing!

I love it when someone has a descent price on a vehicle and everybody thinks there’s something wrong with it or it’s a scam, maybe the seller isn’t looking to screw potential buyers like everyone else, maybe a little investigation could have gotten someone a great deal, I’m lmao with the seller.

Why ,the initial $17,500 number ,who knows? You have to start somewhere? I just sold my 53 F-100, very similar to this truck as far as modifications, paint, upholstery etc. and it brought $55,000. Which in the classic truck market for a nice truck, is a typical average, I would think this truck should be in that range.

fella has 2, 3 ‘show cars’ one this but ’52 model. Lowered, 5 link, 427 bored out & centrifugal SC aspirated (I’m more familiar w/roots & screw styles). Lucky it’s the transmish that dont work. I dont wanna B responsible so out it come’n off to the transmission shop (I think it’s assembled wrong as FP is in backwards 1st off). Oh, may B I did have a paxton ina ford too (nother centrifugal).
