The C3 (third generation) Chevrolet Corvette enjoyed a long run from 1968 to 1982. The 1973 model marked the last time the car had chrome rear bumpers, switching to the super-rubber material used on the front. The car’s popularity continued, with sales exceeding 30,000 copies in 1973. This example looks like it could be an extremely nice driver with a 350 cubic inch V8 that’s not original to the car. Located in Eastchester, New York, this version of America’s Sports Car is available here on craigslist for $14,500. An attaboy goes to Rocco B. for another great tip!

We assume a 350 V8 was in this Corvette from the factory. Perhaps it was the L82 that produced 250 hp SAE net. One out of five ‘Vettes built that year had one, and the 454 big block was still on the order form. The seller excludes the mileage on the overall car or the number of miles on the replacement engine. But we’re told it runs great and has a 4-speed manual transmission for spirited driving.

Perhaps the color on this Chevy is Elkhart Green, and it presents well, though we don’t know if it’s a respray from sometime over the past 50 years. The black interior also presents well, though the photos could be better if the seller had opted for landscape rather than portrait pics. A nice feature on this Corvette is the addition of side pipes, which have an aggressive look and a bold sound. Just don’t burn yourself when hoping out!

This Chevy looks like a turnkey opportunity that may give you years of driving pleasure. And at a price that isn’t in another stratosphere like we see on so many vintage vehicles these days. Do you have room in your garage for this one?

Never assume anything. With no mention of mileage or what the motor came out of I would be leary, just looking at the crooked back license plate on back says something.
God have mercy on anyone getting off and forgetting about those side pipes, you’ll be branded for life and a trip to the ER BURN UNIT
If you want side mounted exhaust, use the factory original. The parts are out there. These mickey-mouse side pipes are a joke.
Comments are kind of heartless on this one. Body looks good, motor is okay, not great, but okay. Paint looks good on it, the nose has not warped that bad. Drive it till the engine goes out and put a crate motor in it and really enjoy it. Bet if you showed up with 10k, you would probably get it.
I have a 73 without those stupid Chinese side exhaust pipe, barbeque grille on rear deck and Mickey Mouse air cleaner. Great color and a 4 speed, that’s about it.
Way overpriced for a wrong motor, manual brakes, manual steering, manual windows, missing seat belts and no air 73 coupe with hokey side pipes. Paint looks shiny (except for the center point of the front bumper), but pictures lie. The tach indicates it started life with a base L-48 engine. That it’s in NY now doesn’t mean it’s spent it’s whole life in the northeast, but any potential buyer better look closely at the cowl/a-pillar area, the number 2, 3 & 4 body mounts and the frame for signs of rust.
Someday I wish someone would explain why people remove the cowl induction air cleaner that came standard on every 73-75 Corvette, and replace them with an open element air cleaner to feed the engine hot air from the under hood instead.
