This 1967 International Harvester Scout 800 is listed for sale here on Facebook Marketplace in Austin, Texas. This Scout 800 was used as a hunting rig in Big Wells, Texas for a number of years and then sat for 20 years. The Scout does have its original engine but is not running. There is some rust but the seller believes it is restorable and will not part it out. The seller is asking $3,300 and has had the Scout 800 listed for about 3 weeks.
International Harvester produced over 500,000 models of the 4WD Scout. The first generation of the Scout was manufactured from 1960 to 1965. It is known as the Scout 80. The second generation of Scout was called the Scout 800 which was produced in three sub-models (800, 800A, and 800B). From 1966 to 1967, International Harvester produced the Scout 800. Starting in 1968, the Scout 800A was produced from 1968 to 1970. The Scout 800B had a short production run from August 1970 to March 1971. It was replaced by the third-generation model and the longest run of any Scout model called the Scout II. It had a production run from 1971 to 1980.
Originally, Scout 80s (1960-1965) were equipped with a 152 cubic inch inline four-cylinder engine that came from the factory with 93 horsepower. This was also the base engine in the Scout 800 (like this one) but it could also be ordered with a turbocharger to boost power to 111 horsepower. An optional 196 cubic inch inline 4-cylinder was introduced in 1966. Other optional engines included a 266 cubic inch inline 6-cylinder (1967), a 304 cubic inch V8 engine (1968), and a 345 cubic inch V8 engine (1971) in second and third generation Scouts.
Although the seller says the floorboards are rusted, this Scout looks pretty clean. It will need engine work along with rebuilding the brake and fuel systems. The seller states that the Scout 800 is missing the original seats and frames. It is also missing the driver door, top, glass and will need a wiring harness. This one may take some work but it can be restored.

That 152 cu in slant 4 was the 304 V8 with one bank whacked off. I had one for a few days circa late 70’s. Since the drive train (sans engine) was the same as my CJ5 I bought the scout for $500 and took off the Overdrive unit and traded the big meats & wide wheels with what was on my Jeep, the sold the Scout for $500. :-) Terry J
rest in peace
This has potential, but $3k is way too much. Some parts sourcing for the body will probably be difficult as will the seats, I imagine.
There is a pair of these for sale on the Nashville FB Marketplace. The seller has multiple Binders for sale. All projects.
I have seen a heck of a lot worse on here for much more than 3k….definitely needs a V8.
