If you’ve tried to sell anything recently, you likely know the market is a bit soft for anything that isn’t a truly exceptional luxury and/or performance car. This is a bummer if you’re trying to sell something; however, it’s a unique opportunity to buy at a very fair price point if you’re in the market for a project. This 1993 Ford F-250 XL is much better than a project; it actually looks like a compelling daily driver, showing just 50,000 miles from new. It’s a 2WD example with a 5-speed manual, which makes it quite intriguing from an equipment standpoint. Find it here on craigslist already discounted once to $9,700.

These OBS – or Old Body Style – trucks never fail to draw a crowd when they appear for sale, and I doubt this one will hang out long. Seeing a low-mileage survivor with great options already being discounted once shows you just how tight things are out there, as a few years ago, this would have likely sold in the upper teens. While many OBS truck buyers seem dead-set on owning a diesel-powered example, I would be perfectly content to own a rig just like this one with a dependable gasoline V8 engine and very straightforward maintenance and parts-sourcing. As you’d expect with low miles, the interior is pristine.

The long bed thankfully has a plastic bedliner, which is surprisingly not scratched up to an excessive degree. The tool box suggests this was a working truck at one point, while the clean paint and dent-free body panels suggest it didn’t spend much time on the jobsite. The seller notes it was elderly driven, which makes an awful lot of sense given the lower mileage and clean condition. For retirees of a certain age and lifestyle, having your final vehicle be the best spec’d truck you can find makes a lot more sense than buying a Town Car or a Crown Victoria, as a truck like this ensures you can log plenty of highway miles in comfort while still hooking up a trailer and hauling when needed.

The flat sides are undoubtedly less attractive than the flareside design but what’s more impressive is the lack of dings or dents – this truck was not left to fend for itself in parking lots for hours at a time. The factory alloy wheels still present well, a do the chrome bumpers. The 5.8L V8 churns out a respectable 200 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque which will feel noticeably more lively with the ability to row your own gears. Roll up windows, manual locks, and a tried-and-true drivetrain make this truck fairly bulletproof, and a smart buy at the current asking price given how many years of reliable service it likely has left. Thanks to Barn Finds reader Curvette for the find.

Throw on the camper 🏕 or the 5th wheel and follow the sunshine 🌞
Nice truck not stupid high price and a factory anti theft transmission to boot if it’s a posi rear end some good traction tiers and a couple bags of sand and you can get through the snow just fine
With new loaded pickups approaching $100k and over this looks very compelling. I know it doesn’t have half the equipment of a new truck but that’s what is great about it. Wish I needed it and not just wanted it.
Great truck, needs 4wd here in Colorado but otherwise perfect….all manual. Bulletproof.
SIL just bought a new Chev Silverado. He showed me the tailgate which opens about 6 different ways (how often will he use all those), and includes steps. Also interior electronics and a screen which are the definition of unnecessary (IMO). Pretty truck, but I’ll bet in about 3 years half that stuff will not be functioning. $50k truck.
This Ford makes a lot more sense and for $9,700 is a steal.
This is a buy! 2WD worked just fine for me in Eagle county and if I had to get to the front range I just threw on my chains. Didn’t need 4WD until I moved to Vermont cause my driveway was straight up for 3/4 of a mile! Someone is going to get a real sweetie here!
I would buy this today if it wasn’t 1 day and 11 hrs from me. What a shame. Getting ready to sell my 04 siverado with the 496 in it to step down a little.
Beautiful truck.
I have a 1995 F150 with a strong 300 I-6 and a 5 speed. I have no desire to get anything newer, but I sure as heck wouldn’t have any qualms about going 2 model years older with 130,000 fewer miles than mine. I’d feel pretty confident this truck would get me back to Ohio okay if I flew out to pick it up. I probably ought to, but it’ll probably have already sold by the time I finish typing ! Nice find !
Price has been lowered to $8500. Now an extra good buy.
