Chevrolet produced 23,562 Corvettes in 1965, with 8,186 being the Coupe version. This is one of those cars, and it has a story to tell. The seller located it as part of the deceased estate of its original owner, discovering that it is an original and fully-documented classic with 65,000 miles showing on its odometer. Its condition is difficult to fault, making it a tempting proposition for a new owner. The ‘Vette is listed here on Facebook in Lone Tree, Colorado. The seller set a price of $70,000 but will consider offers. I must say a big thank you to Barn Finder T.J. for spotting this incredible survivor.
Finding an original C2 Corvette with a backstory like this is rare, but it isn’t unprecedented. The original owner drove it off the lot in 1965, retaining it until they recently passed away. The seller purchased it from their estate, making it a genuine two-owner survivor. Its Rally Red paint looks stunning, with this car being 1-of-3,688 to wear that shade in 1965. It shines beautifully, with no significant flaws in it or the fiberglass beneath. The lack of corrosion around various aspects of the car is promising, with the seller mentioning no rust issues with the frame. The chrome looks stunning for a survivor, with this Coupe retaining its original hubcaps. The glass seems flawless, and the narrow whitewalls look perfect on this car.
The original owner didn’t go overboard when ordering this Corvette, but they wanted more performance than the entry-level engine offered. They selected the L75 version of the 327ci V8, which sends 300hp to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. The engine upgrade added $53.80 to the sticker price, but it was a wise investment. While the 250hp entry-level 327 delivered a ¼-mile ET of 15.3 seconds and a top speed of 116mph, the L75 improved those numbers to 14.6 seconds and 131mph. The seller states this numbers-matching classic has a genuine 65,000 miles on its odometer, and since they hold documentation dating back to Day One, I suspect they can verify the claim. The 327 wears an aftermarket air cleaner, but I would probably “lose” that if I found the Coupe parked in my garage. However, it is in sound mechanical health, with them describing it as fast and fun to drive. It looks like the buyer could fly in and drive this classic home.
This Corvette’s interior possesses the “wow” factor courtesy of the original owner’s decision to order it in the Code 443 combination of White and Red vinyl. It presents exceptionally well for a survivor, with no signs of abuse or physical damage. The armrest on the driver’s door looks slightly discolored, but I’ve seen experts achieve impressive results in addressing the issue with hydrogen peroxide and UV lights. It is not a process designed for amateurs, and the new owner will need to confirm the experience of such an expert before handing them this car. Otherwise, this interior seems to have no other needs. There are no aftermarket additions, and the first owner equipped the Coupe with an AM/FM radio and power antenna for a touch of luxury.
This Corvette is a fantastic survivor that would suit a meticulous buyer. Its unmolested state and comprehensive documentation help it stand out and will serve to increase its potential as a long-term investment. Values have recently softened for ’65 Corvette Coupes, but it appears that trend has ended, and they are climbing again. Even if a potential buyer chooses not to negotiate and pays the asking price, it looks competitive in the current market. It has only been on the market a short time, and I believe someone will snap it up pretty quickly. I’d like to think the buyer will be one of our readers because that’s the best way to ensure it will remain protected and preserved. Do we have any takers?
I don’t spend much time on FB looking at cars because you have to wade through too much god-awful junk to find anything worthwhile…but I did happen to spot this gem and had to submit it. Unfortunately, I’m not in a position to consider buying this but, wow, what a beauty!
Nice car. Breathe driver . I would do 50 K in a heartbeat.
Beautiful car. Red, but not “resale red”.
Even after owning two C3s over the years, I am still amazed at what I don’t know about Vettes. This C2 looks perfect and unmolested – to me.
Hoping by the end of the subsequent comments it hasn’t been trashed with revelations of abuse and deception. But, admittedly I am not the expert.
This looks like a very nice Corvette if the chassis is rust-free. The lack of factory options might hurt the price more than the seller realizes.
I think $50 – 60,000 would be more like the market value, but maybe I’m out of touch with “modern values”.
I pulled on of them 327s out of a wrecked one and put it in my 36 Ford Slant back !! Used to go pretty good !!
Today must be bargain Wednesday, every listing seems like a deal, including this Corvette.
Nice car but is it a scam?
That air cleaner has to go, a foam element and a backfire don’t work so well together. Other than that nice car!
Looks like red overspray on the top of the ballast resister and the wiring connections right behind the ignition shielding in the picture with the hood up looking at the master cylinder and the firewall. Original paint claims always require a personal inspection. mpo.
I looked at the car on the Fakebook ad. Looks nice, but I really can’t see giving more than $50K for this one. The coupe isn’t as valuable as the convertible in my opinion. Plus, this isn’t a L79 327, which would make this little red Corvette more fun for sure.
Amazing how many C2s are coming put if the woodwork after nearly 60 years.
Looks like it was lowered to $65k.
Having just attended Mecum Auto Auction in Kissimmee, you are correct, the market has come down and the Auction was flooded with c2s some drawing bids only into the 40s which were turned down…..if this car is as you describe it, I’m willing to pay 65k for it. How can I view and pay for it?
I tried to make an offer to the guy. He was kind of being a prick. Now the ad is removed. Probably a scam.
Thanks for the heads up
I would like to contact seller but will not join facebook.
Seems a bit peculiar, funky air breather, flex fan,to many cooks spoil the broth?
This lovely car brings back memories of my long-dead father! He had a ’65 Coupe that was nearly identical to this one, except his had the exhaust pipes that ran along the outside of the car!
Me and one of my cousins would pile in that car, and Dear Old Dad would take us away!
Thanks for the wonderful memories of my deceased Father!

Looking at the options for this Corvette an am/fm radio was almost as much as the 396 engine option.
There is a ’66 C2 ‘vert for sale locally. 327/300, power glide, power steering/brakes/windows/top,am-fm,optional seats, removable hardtop etc.
Super nice, but the previous owner dressed it up like a hi po big block with knockoff wheels, hi po hood, side exhaust, etc. To each his own.
