Finding a pristine classic that you can lavish your care and attention upon is not a bad thing. But sometimes, finding a clean and tidy survivor that is ready to be driven and enjoyed is even better. That would appear to be what this 1975 Corvette Stingray represents, and this is your chance to own it. The Corvette is located in Las Vegas, Nevada, and has been listed for sale here on eBay. Bidding currently sits at $7,700 in what is a No Reserve auction.
The owner of the Corvette says that it isn’t perfect, but it does present nicely in Mille Miglia Red. He says that the paint has a few chips and minor marks, but overall, it has a nice consistency and depth of shine to it. When you examine the car carefully, there is some evidence of at least a partial repaint having been undertaken at some point. This is particularly evident under the hood, where there is evidence of overspray red paint in a few spots. The external trim and chrome looks good, and while I’ve never been a huge fan of luggage racks, this does provide a nice contrast against the Red paint. There is one photo available of the vehicle’s underside, and it looks to be spotlessly clean. The Rally wheels appear to be faultless, with the often vulnerable trim rings appearing to be free of any scrapes or marks. Like many people, I’m not totally sold on the front bumper that was fitted to the Corvettes at this point in time, but I do admit to actually quite liking the rear. To me, the recessed tail-lights give a bit of a nod to the hot-rod practice of “frenching” lights, and I think that this is why it appeals to me. Well, that’s the theory, anyway.
Climbing aboard the Corvette reveals a continuation of the neat and tidy theme that was set by the car’s exterior. The black upholstery looks to be in good condition, with no signs of any tears or marks. The dash looks to be free of cracks or issues, while even the carpet appears to be in better than average condition. The original factory radio has been replaced with a CD player, but otherwise, it all appears to be original and unmodified. The vehicle did come equipped with factory air conditioning, and while some of its components have been removed, they are included in the sale. Further luxury touches include power windows and a tilt/telescopic wheel. More good news comes in the form of the owner’s statement that everything inside the car works as it should.
Okay, so what resides under the hood is not going to satisfy you if you are searching for sheer brute force, but for the person who is seeking an effortless and relaxed cruising experience, this isn’t too bad. The engine is the L48 350ci V8, producing 165hp. Also included are a 3-speed automatic transmission, and power steering. With a 0-60 time of 10.3 seconds and a ¼ mile ET of 17.6 seconds, it really isn’t a fast car by any stretch of the imagination. However, 255lb/ft of torque helps the car’s cause in stop/start traffic, as well as helping it to cope with some pretty steep inclines with reasonable ease. Having said that, this engine does wear a set of aftermarket headers. This might suggest that a few more ponies have been liberated, so performance might be a bit better than expected. The good news with the car comes on several fronts. The first is that this is a numbers-matching car. In addition, the owner does state that it has covered an original 67,000 miles. Most importantly, the Corvette is said to run and drive really nicely, and the owner even says that it could be used as a daily driver.
Muscle cars appeal to a lot of people, and there is no doubt that in its earlier life, it was possible to specify a Corvette to provide some pretty serious levels of performance. However, there are people out there who like the style and presence of a car like the Corvette but don’t want to live with the cantankerous attitude that these cars can have. That’s where cars like this one fit into the equation. They provide the looks and the style, but all wrapped in a package that is relatively easy to live with on a daily basis. That might well explain why the bidding on this particular car has been extremely strong. Maybe I’m not the only one who sees some sort of attraction to that sort of lifestyle.
it aint all that. and hardly original so i doubt the mileage. someone blurped a paint job on it, and didnt even paint the bumper black. its an a/c car with all the a/c guts ripped off of it. they put a 78 rear bumper on it – which was vogue in the 70’s, but look like crap these days.
10 grand more in fixing it MIGHT give you a mediocre driver.
this aint a bargain by any stretch.
Not a bad looking car for under $8K.
Not perfect, but not bad either.
These Gen 3 Vettes have been seriously undervalued for years, & they are still a great low-priced entry point for many.
You could spend $8K today on a used Prius, or some other econo-box, or a boring “looks like everything else” car, OR you could buy a unique classic like this that will AT LEAST keep its current value FOR YEARS if you maintain it. You choose….. :-)
I think the best thing you can do to the 74-79 Corvettes is to add the 80-82 rear bumper with the built-in spoiler. I’m not certain about the years, but I believe the side and rear profile are enhanced with the later model rear cap.
Yep, gives the tail the ’68-’73 decklid lip look. The ’74-’79 rounded look is not visually appealing to my eyes.
Please cut those exhaust tips…🤢🤮 they don’t do this beautiful car justice
Not bad condition and not a bad price for a C3, especially around here. This isn’t a ‘racer’, rather a cruiser. It’s the kind of car you could take your honey out for a long weekend, especially since it has a luggage rack.
I also don’t care for the exhaust tips, would have been better to put them back to original IMO.
If the price stays reasonable, this looks like a good car for someone that likes to drive rather than race.
They really should have painted the front bumper pads black when they resprayed it.
Or have it vinyl wrapped. Color change without sanding or painting.
Just a thought.
Those pipes gotta go. As always, one primary factor that separates the good from the bad on these C3 Corvettes is the condition of the frame and bird cage, also interior parts are ridiculously costly.
Just a typical under powered C3 nice looking cruiser but I shy away from cars that are to much show and not nearly enough GO.
looks clean would be a good buy under 10k
This things a good buy at 4k. Its not a real Corvette. No 4speed. Later……………….JIMMY
James- If I follow your reasoning, the C8 is also not a “real” Corvette.? Your reasoning is faulty. Go back and think it over.
