This one is a bit of a head-scratcher. This “rust-free” 1971 Dodge D100 Adventurer is said to have originally been Sublime Green, which I believe, for trucks, is sometimes listed as Lime Green on color charts. The seller has it posted here on craigslist in Shoreline, Washington, and they’re asking just $8,000. Here is the original listing, and thanks to Tony P. for the tip!

Can you believe this truck is just $8,000? That’s the head-scratcher part for me. Even more so, if it was originally lime green, it’s a crying shame that it was painted this dark green. I know this is an easier color to live with, to fit in with the surroundings better and all that, but if this truck really was lime green, it would be about as rare as it gets. Even more of a head-scratcher, this truck was sold on “another site” known for its auctions in 2017, and it sold for just $7,650. And, these appear to be the same photos, so they’re almost a decade old now.

So, selling for just under $8,000 nine years ago, it’s not priced at just $8,000 today? I would have guessed this truck would be almost double that price. Although it does look almost perfect in the overall photos, the seller includes a close-up showing the condition of the paint in one area, so it does need cosmetic work, at least if a buyer wanted it to be perfect. If I wanted it to be perfect, I’d paint it back to the original color. The bed looks well-used, so that’s another thing. And is that lime green paint shown on the bed floor in spots? Dang.

Optional bucket seats are great, and these have had velour inserts installed. I’d go back to original material, or with a lime green return-to-stock color change, I’d try some fun plaid fabric covers. This truck originally came with factory air-conditioning, I think, and that was definitely an option shown on page 11 of this brochure. The seller says it isn’t working, and once you see the engine photo – which you already have, I’m guessing – you’ll see that this is far from a stock engine bay.

$8,000 for a truck this rust-free, with an engine bay that looks like this? This is said to be a 318-cu.in. OHV V8, which would have been rated at around 210 horsepower and 340 lb-ft of torque when new. Backed by an automatic sending power to the rear wheels on this D-series truck, this one is said to run, stop, and drive well. Here’s a YouTube video of it back in 2017. Any thoughts on this D100 Adventurer? This has to be a great deal if it checks out, doesn’t it?

As has often been been said “ If it seems too good to be true then most likely it is.”
Many of the astute readers that have experience with this sort of thing point out that old pictures are just that, and not only do the fail to portray the current condition of the vehicle they fail to portray the actual location as well.
Until one actually lays eyes and magnet to it, be very wary.

If it is the real deal someone needs to grab this 20 minutes ago!
If it all checks out, and the present condition is close to what is shown in the decade old re-used pictures, it’s a buy-it-right-now. But color me skeptical.
If it’s all legit, then let me ask the seller’s agent: if you can’t easily get new pics, couldn’t you ask someone (relative or neighbor) to zap you some? Maybe owner could slip ’em a twenty? Don’t know the situation, so trying not to sound critical, just asking.
While 8K may not seem like a lot of green for this truck, and sure, your friends would be green with envy if you bought it, but without an in-person inspection you could be green around the gills. Greener than a reflecting pool!
