Amazing 933-Mile 1993 Chevrolet Corvette 40th Anniv.

There are just 933 original miles on this gorgeous 40th Anniversary Edition 1993 Chevrolet Corvette, one of the prettiest Corvettes ever built, in my opinion. These cars didn’t get any performance boost or other under-hood enhancements, so the color scheme is the big differentiator in terms of what sets it apart from other C4 Corvettes. Like many collectible models, it’s not unusual to find one with low mileage, but sub-1,000 miles is pretty impressive. Still, with an asking price of $50,000 here on eBay, it’s not as if the value has appreciated that much against the original purchase price when you account for inflation. If you’re looking for a brand new 40th Anniversary Edition, this is likely your best bet for some time to come.

It’s amazing how wet this car’s paint still looks, a testament to not only being carefully preserved/stored for the long term, but also to the efforts made by the previous owner to protect the finish. It’s all too easy for a car to sit in the garage for years at a time and still incur the errant scrape or falling object encounter. The Ruby Red paint scheme featured a matching top and matching leather interior, and when you factor in how well the taillights blend in, it’s possible that this Corvette could simply melt into a background of the same color scheme. The polished wheels are in exceptional condition, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the tires are the original rubber it left the factory with.

The interior is in outstanding condition, and those factory leather seats look absolutely mint. The C4 bucket seats are some of my favorite factory seats, and the bolsters on these look perfect. The interior shows no flaws, and while C4 cockpits generally hold up pretty well, the bolsters can wear out in a heartbeat if the car is used regularly. No such issues here, and the seller reports that this is a very well optioned car, and features power seats with power lumbar control, along with a low tire pressure warning indicator, Bose stereo, Electronic Selective Ride Control and Handling, and the optional “Performance Axle Ratio,” which was unique among coupes and convertibles, and was tied to whichever transmission option the owner selected. I could be mistaken, but I believe every 40th Anniversary Model was equipped with the automatic transmission.

The 300 b.h.p. LT1 engine should outlast its next owner with this sort of mileage, as this is generally one of the more proven performance engines Detroit has ever built. It will deliver smiles for years, content in its duties to deliver completely respectable performance, if not necessarily earth shattering. The engine bay is spotless, just like the rest of the car, and the next owner will have the tall task of keeping this 40th Anniversary Edition model in as nice of condition as it is shown here, along with keeping the odometer reading below that 1,000 mile benchmark. I couldn’t own a car like this, but some people love having a centerpiece to their collection. Would you put a minty 40th Anniversary C4 on your must-own list?

What’s so amazing about this car is the price, it’s resell value is 22k max. Pass.

The 40th anniversary package (RPO Z25) was available on any 1993 Corvette for a MSRP of $1455. Local Corvette dealer has three 40th anniversary models for sale. One has won both a 2010 NCRS National Top Flight award and a 2009 NCRS Regional Performance Verification award. That car has a 6-speed manual transmission.

What is the asking price on the NCRS award winner?

@A.G.- Thanks! That would be a great deal if all of the documentation is available.

What is a “Regional Performance Verification Award” ?
      Sounds meaningless to me…sorry

It means it was judged at an NCRS Regional meet which is one step below the National meet. The judges at Regionals are in most cases very knowledgeable. The Performance Verification means everything on the car has been operated and is working correctly. Not a bad thing to have if you are thinking about buying a Corvette.

The owner is basically asking what he/she paid for it. Low-mileage time capsules are pretty boring at this point. And the economics make absolutely no sense to me anymore. Who would spend $50,000 for a car that can’t be driven? $50K would buy a much more advanced Corvette that can, and should be driven daily and will deliver more performance than the average bear could handle.

Why buy something you can’t or wouldn’t use? You’d be better off buying lawn furniture lol.

And if you spill a beer on the lawn furniture you can just hose it off.

Nice Vette, but it’s still a C4 and these years had lots of trouble with the LCD instrument clusters going bad, and good luck getting them fixed. And just because this one has a different color scheme doesn’t make it worth twice the price of another C4 in the same condition.

And the opti spark too. C4s are a good bargain on the whole though. Buy one with 50,000 miles on it for about 10k and enjoy.

Most instrument cluster issues come back to the original bulbs heating up the cluster. You can get them either rebuilt or the parts to rebuild them and include the option to use Xenon or LED bulbs in them. There’s a guy that will rebuild the clusters and I had him fix mine and it’s been great.

Not on the ’92-95s, they used all-LCD plug in modules that were backlit internally, and if you can find replacements they are $$, then you have to put them in, no easy chore. I used to fix these at the shop I worked at, when we had the parts. Later we stopped doing them.

I’m sure you know this but for others benefits Batee.com still does repairs on pretty much all C4 Corvette Instrument clusters. Good work at a reasonable price IMO. I get nothing out of this other than passing along some hopefully useful info to others.

I don’t see the point of paying a premium for these manufacturer-created “collector” cars that in reality are just cosmetic packages. Plus, $50k is used C7 money these days and why would you pick this over a lightly used C7? Ultra-low miles just means a lot of problems from not being driven.

C4s were great when they were cheap. Kind of like Fox Mustangs. When they are no longer cheap, they make no sense since there are newer, better cars out there for similar or less money.

The only “specials” I think that might be worth money are those that have their uniqueness coded in the VIN. Otherwise, a “normal” car is a paint job away from being an overpriced “special”.

Lets see what was the other Corvette people stashed in their garage expecting to make a fortune? The 1978 Corvette Pace Car I watched many come across the auction block years later with 400 miles and the plastic on the seats. Can you imagine having that car take up garage space for 40 years? I think the Stock market would have been a better choice.
