UPDATE – The seller has asked us to relist this Pontiac, but with a lower reserve! If you have any questions, please let us know.

If this Firebird looks familiar, that’s because we auctioned it back in September of 2023. The new owner is unfortunately struggling with health issues and can’t drive the car. They have put just 20 miles on it since it arrived, so not nearly as many miles as they would have liked. Rather than just let this beauty sit in their garage, they’ve asked us to list it for them. You can find the original listing for this Firebird Formula 400 here. It’s now in Dayton, Ohio, and is ready to head to its next home.

This Firebird is quite striking. It looks great in photos but is even more impressive in person. The color scheme and graphics really make it stand out. It’s not in perfect condition; the graphics have some thin spots, and the paint has some chips, but it presents nicely.

Under the hood is the original 400-4 V8 engine, which runs well. The original owner really optioned this car out, with the optional engine, air conditioning, a rear console, rally gauges, and the Formula appearance package. The only issue the seller is aware of is a slight transmission leak. It’s minor, they had planned on fixing it, but their health issues make it impossible to get under the car now. Other than that, the vehicle is well-sorted and ready to drive.

The interior is still in excellent condition, but considering it’s spent all of its time parked in the seller’s garage, that isn’t surprising. Since nothing has changed with the car’s condition, we have included the professional photos from the previous listing and the pictures the seller could snap with their phone. When they purchased the car, the odometer was showing 76,090; as seen from the photo taken today (March 20th), it now shows 76,110.

It’s honestly a bit heartbreaking that the seller has to let go of this Pontiac. In our conversations about the car, they feel that a vehicle like this deserves to be driven and enjoyed. We have to agree with them on that. It’s just too cool of a machine to be parked! While they wish they could drive it, they want to see it go to a good home with someone who can properly enjoy it. If that person is you, don’t let this rare find get away! And if you have any questions for the seller, please leave them in the comments below.

Never seen an F-body with a vinyl top in that style where the back roof pillar is left as metal.

I believe the Esprit (sp) and the Camaro berlinetta (sp) and the riveria all had that option.

This is a very nice looking car. If I had the money it would be sitting in my garage. Some one is going to get a great looking car that has has been kept up very well.

        Adjusting urge control to maximum.

At least I’ve got one of the photos as my wallpaper. How could anyone not love this car?

With my 77 T/A I liked the 4 square lamps better but this front end with the dual intakes over this nose look great. I need this car but the other half would make me sleep in it.

    Very striking color combo!
So what did it sell for in the prior auction? It isn’t mentioned in either the article or previous auction, and on the auction results page it says $0. What’s the secret? Prior auction results are a relevant data point.

Most people that i talk to that have health issues have one thing in common and they hate having been caught in the con , so sad to not be able to enjoy this orange beauty …

Looks like the car sustained some collision damage on drivers side door and lower rear door jam area. And it appears to be overspray on the upper door seal and door latch.
However, i am a gearhead ,and not a body n paint guy.

I’ve owned a have dozen T/A’s . and had buddies that had the formula s, this car has everything T/As have and more …I’ve never saw a rear console in one, for that matter I never knew they were an option…I’m not to keen on the black along the front, but other than that it’s BEAUTIFUL, LOVE the Car…my opinion it’s well worth the $ 14k

Obviously, you have no real interest in the car if you are only an hour away from it but can’t find any time, whatsoever, to go see it, lol…these comments just leave us all shaking our heads. Why did you even bother posting this comment?

It’s a shame they cut in some funky door grilles into the immaculate door panels. And all the aftermarket stereo equipment needs to be restored back to original. Other than that, love the color combination

Nice Bird! Great color, although not in love with the white interior. Well optioned car. As stated previously, I have never seen a vinyl roof like this & I have seen numerous Firebirds over the years at car shows. GLWTA!!!

I believe the Esprit (sp) and the Camaro berlinetta (sp) and the riveria all had that option. From reading and looking at the videos the seller only put 20 miles on the car along with exhaust work and other maintenance. Hmmmm …….? Love the color the white interior is a deal breaker don’t care for the vinyl top which explains the absence of ttops i don’t like either.
Looks like the car was Zbarted and there is some rust forming on the bottom of the quarters and front fenders. Not sure if there’s a reserve or BIN price. But it’s one of the nicer ones passing the authors camera lense.

If going to own a 76′ having the “Z” code is the one to have, supposed to the “S”code.Like the 76’Trans Am i used to own.It is the federal engine. No smog pump,no catalytic converters, true dual exhaust and no baffle in the filler neck.which meant you could of used leaded or unleaded gas. This car was built in Norwood Ohio.Unfortunately this car cannot be registered in California to this day, wouldn’t pass a smog check…
