Aircooled Collection: Shorty Bus and More For Sale

This awesome “shorty” Volkswagen Bus is a great solution for a project vehicle if you’re short on garage space, but it unfortunately sounds like it has already sold. Not to fear, the seller has an assortment of air-cooled projects for sale, but none of them may be as cool as this Bus, which even has custom running boards and a porthole window in the door. The seller is offering the remaining vehicles for a package price of $13,500 which includes his lot of spare parts, but individual prices are provided as well. Find the listing here on Facebook Marketplace in Pea Ridge, Arkansas.

This buggy, like so many others, is a Meyers Manx clone, and the seller is asking $1,700 for the rolling chassis. I have to say, given the lowballs I got when I was selling a similar project last year that was way more complete, I’d be shocked if he got that much. The body looks like it’s already had some fiberglass repair, and there’s no interior – but given he’s already sold what were likely the two most expensive cars in his collection, perhaps he’s willing to negotiate on this rolling dune buggy project.

This “high top” Bus is for sale, and it looks like it was used at one time as a promotional vehicle for a major gathering of air-cooled fanatics. If I had to guess, the seller is likely neck-deep in the vintage VW community, as the models he had for sale are the kind you don’t happen into by accident. Check out the decor – there’s photos of different Beetles and other models inset into a honeycomb grid going down the sides. The asking price for this is $11,000 and it comes with new tires.

Here’s another one that got away – a genuine 4WD Vanagon, a rarity in any condition in the U.S. It’s no surprise this and the awesome shorty van both went quickly, but the remaining Bus looks like a potentially fun project. I’d want to know what the interior configuration is currently if I was a serious buyers, as it looks like it may have been a camper at one time (but has it been modified for using as a party van at Bug shows? Inquiring minds want to know.) The only other “spare” I see listed is an extra 1500 motor, but perhaps a seller like this has some other treasures hiding in his garage.

The ‘awesome’ part of the short Bus was carved off some time ago.

Boy that’s gotta be a hairy thing on the corners. Ruined it in my humble opinion. Good luck. I don’t see much value here.
