This Buick Riviera is claimed to have had only one owner and to have covered only 32k miles since new! We would normally be leery of such claims, but the photos do make them easy to believe here. Not only is this thing in amazing original condition, but it is very well-optioned. It’s located in Reno, Nevada Alberta Canada and is listed here on eBay with the no reserve auction ending tonight!
Just take a look at the interior! The red and white color scheme is stunning and a closer look reveals some serious craftsmanship. Even the button on the stereo spell “BUICK”. They just don’t make them like this anymore! This thing was tricked out too with lots of power options.
It even has a plaque with the first owner’s name on it! This was obviously custom ordered just the way Mrs. Armstrong wanted it. All I can say is that this lady had some seriously good taste. She and her family must have taken good care of their stuff too because this machine is amazingly well preserved.
And here’s the heart of this beautiful beast! Mrs. Armstrong wasn’t just concerned with looks and luxury. The Wildcat 445 was the largest engine option available in ’63 and it put our some serious power. The Buick Riviera was a very impressive car when it was new and we are lucky to have this unrestored example around to show us what they were really like. Let’s just hope that the next caretakers are able to keep her as nice as the Armstrong family did!
Without a doubt, something the first owner took great pride in. Hopefully, it’s future owners will continue to keep it so well preserved. A truly beautiful car.
We had a service station when I was kid and the bank president next door had a black 65 Riviera that was garage kept and used by his wife to run around our mile and half square mile town. We picked it up at his house to service it every 6 months. Me and my 2 brothers would fight over who got to drive the Riviera back and forth. Such a nice car with a kick in the pants engine power.
Car apparently is in Canada, not Nevada.
What a beautiful car! When you post these kinds of cars, I just start wishing a had the financials to just pick up the phone and say ” I will take it”. It seems to me if it goes anywhere near the bid price, that it is at now, its a steal!
I believe this was the only year these Rivs came with the dynalow transmission.
I believe you are correct on the Dynaflow transmission, since it has the P-N-D-L-R shift quadrant, which means it’s a 2 speed automatic, not a 3 speed, as listed on Ebay.
The “Riv” and the Pontiac 2+2 ar my favorite of all the big hipo cars, this beautiful car is a dream, as someone mentioned, I sure wish I had a load of money to throw around……..
Did the factory really apply white paint over the rubber door bumpers and weatherstripping? There are so many claims of cars having original paint but with overspray on parts that should have been installed long after the factory painted them that it makes me wonder about the rest of the car.
Strange the seller doesn’t even mention the leather seats which is a 63 option only if I recall.
Seems to me that it should be worth the low $20s. It probably needs a lead additive in the gas and gets 8 MPG on super premium but oh what style. Do I want to be the old man in a Buick? I’m tempted but I don’t have a spare garage space that this requires.
I’d be more worried about the ethanol in gas rather than no lead.
Seller says “The Passenger Door And Quarter Has Several Chips” Several? A dozen or more just in the door. The quarter has even more both above and below the body line. So, the whole passenger side of the car needs paint. Granted, very nice Riv but will probably sell for more than it’s worth. A time capsule it’s not.
It’s correct that the first-year 1963 Riviera had a Dynaflow offshoot (under a different name) so was really only a 2-speed automatic. Beginning with the 1964 model the Riviera adopted the far superior 3-speed GM Turbo Hydramatic.
This is a beautiful car, though I think it needs personal inspection. I love the wheels and red interior. Surprisingly it appears to lack a/c.
one of my best loved buicks 63 to 65 rivs and 61 convs and 61 caddies conv some of gms most loved cars had several thru the years but iam in bunn to sell not keep them but would love that one for a while just iam sure will go to about 18 to 20 don’t find many in that cond any more ben in fl
445 biggest engine, , not a 425 with dual quads?
Hi Tom, the dual quad setup was not available in the 1963 Riviera (though many people have retro fitted them). The 445 (torque rating) 425ci was the “big engine” while the 401ci was the base engine.
445 was the designation “name” of the 401 engine. It was a 401 that developed 445 pounds torque.
It’s gone. Someone got a real gem.
I remember when these first appeared at the Chicago Auto Show. They were intriguing enough for my father to make a visit to the Buick Store. I looked these over from stem to stern. The salesman took us for a demo ride. We went home with a green Buick Special V6 four door sedan. But I got to sit in a “bucket” seat for the first time.
