1967 Ford Mustang Coupe

It’s well known that Jesse and Josh like their Mustangs! I grew up with them as well, and we had two ’67 coupes while I was growing up. This one is located in Mount Airy, Georgia and is being auctioned here on eBay with a buy-it-now of $5,000 and the seller inviting offers. With a fairly solid body and a lot of originality (the seller bought it from the original owner’s family), this one needs front floors and a few localized repairs, but nothing terrible. Unfortunately, the 289 is locked up and it’s only a 3-speed manual. Parts obviously aren’t an issue, though, and it wouldn’t take that much to go with a completely new drivetrain. But that would lose the originality. Would you finish this one, and if so, how would you do it?

    Looks to be in decent shape, not a whole lot of work.. rubbing compound/wax may bring back the luster, This is the way a family would order their Mustang, with a little pep. the 289 will motor it right along. I question the seller saying it won’t start or run, maybe not putting effort into getting it running? Yes it is “ONLY” a 3 spd, but a 4 spd would have been an option.. and the original buyer no doubt wanted to keep cost down. No doubt the original 289 was a two bbl, and once running it should move along nicely Not too many issues with the body.. if repainted, keep the orig color. and I would bet you would have the only one at an all Ford show .. I would upgrade the underside.. disc brakes, radials, maybe even go with baby moons or the standard hubcap had that year HD shocks and you are good to go

    Color is actually “Lime Green” but better known among mustang enthusiasts as “Slime Green”. Doesn’t look that bad though and it would be a shame to cut it up juts for a FB conversion but that’s where the money is.

    That paint is not original. Ford didn’t paint the parking/turn signal light housing in the front valance body color. The inside trunk lid photo shows the unmolested original color; ain’t no original on the exterior — everything on the outside is cheap rattle can green.

      On the ’67 Mustang, Ford did paint the front turn signal housing body color. The inside of the trunk lid or underside of it rather, has been re-sprayed the original color. If you look close, the two stickers on the underside of the lid have been painted over. The exterior color is just an oxidized version of the original color you see in the trunk. I would suspect that since the rear taillight panel has been replaced and over-spray can been seen on the inside of the driver door and trunk lid, the car has at the very least been re-sprayed in areas but that is the original color.

        My ’67 was four years old when I got it and it had never been painted. It was the darker green but the turn signal bezels were painted body color like this one. I think its original too.

    I do love the mid-late 60s mustangs, the design really hit its stride in that period and in my opinion went downhill quickly from there, I haven’t seen one yet but the 2015 might be an exeption to this rule.
    Anyway I was never a fan of the Coupe as I thought it looked like two different cars, blocky at the top and stuled at the bottom doesn’t work, if this was a fastback I’d seriosly consider buying it as its always been my dream to buy a clapped out fastback and shoehorn some seriously hefty power (V12?) in the front with a Volvo M46 & OD Gearbox on the back. If this were a fastback then I wouldn’t keep it origonal, I might go to the trouble of freeing up the block but only to sell it on to try and fund some of the costs, It helps that I already have TWO M46 + OD boxes to hand (Though my father wants to keep one in case our 940 Turbo needs a replacement)
    As a side note (and just in case) there are any Volvo lovers out there, yes I do realise that the 940 Turbo never had an option for the M46 box and it was the M47 that was fitted, the previous owner had it fitted as a special order from Volvo.

    Someone wants to chop this into a fastback? Seriously? Its a clapped out rusted ’67 with lots of previous bodywork. A seized engine is suspicious and Colorado plates indicate lots of rust potential. That said a 3 speed on the floor would be fun as a grocery getter. Not a five grand car imho but it will be interesting to see what someone would pay. I’d say fifteen hundred max.

    I would absolutely do the best I could to keep all ORIGINAL Ford parts,numbers matching, if it’s still a numbers matching vehicle, if not then I’d probably change it up some, buts it’s getting where we don’t see too many original pieces of history anymore….
