This one could easily be titled, “Nicest One Left?” because it surely has to be the nicest 1976 Ford Gran Torino Brougham sedan on the planet. It looks as flawless to me as if it had been subjected to a Concours restoration by the finest shop in the country, but it’s all original. It’s truly an amazing car, is located in Woodland Hills, Utah, and the seller is listing it exclusively here as a Barn Finds Auction!

I can’t get over how nice this car is, this is quite a find. Believe it or not, this is a one-owner car still owned by the person who bought it new 49 years ago and has been meticulously maintained throughout the decades. This is a four-door Brougham, so there’s a B-pillar; there wasn’t a hardtop version. Did I mention this car has just 56,868 miles on it? That’s just 1,160 miles a year on average, wowie! It’s also the last year for the Torino line, and being a top-of-the-line Gran Torino Brougham, even with four doors, this would be a fun car to own. There would be a crowd around it at any gas station or car show, guaranteed.

Ford made the third and last-generation Torino series from 1972 through 1976, and the early Starsky & Hutch two-door models get all the glory and press, but I personally prefer the 1973 and later cars with the wide grille – even if they did have bigger bumpers. The smaller grille on the early cars doesn’t work for me, visually. I believe Ford called this color Creme, and this car is said to have no rust.

The seller says this car is all original inside and out, and it’s a show-stopper. The interior appears new and is wearing Westminster cloth and vinyl seats. The dash is classic, dating back to the era when the driver and passenger only controlled the heating and air conditioning. The steering wheel looks similar to what would be next in line for the Torino chassis under the Ford name: the Thunderbird and LTD II. This car also has a CB radio for extra car show cred!

The engine is clean enough to eat off of. It looks like an honest clean, and isn’t all gooped up with glossy spray products. Very nice. It’s a Ford 400, which was a 402-cu.in. OHV V8, and it would have been rated at 180 horsepower and 338 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent through a three-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels, and this one is fitted with a new stainless steel exhaust. It runs well. If anyone is looking for a rarely seen, last-year Gran Torino Brougham, this is the one. Get your bids in on this Barn Finds Auction!

2 door or 4, this is top notch, ordered right, I would be proud to drive this.

Maybe just a normal car 50 years ago, but on today’s roads this thing looks muscular & tough, like it would beat you up for not putting in the good gas.

A bit too sanitized. High pressure cleaning to engine bay and underside seems to have been excessive, removing even some paint. Underside has no corrosion protection now. Paint buffing/detailing was too aggressive and removed most of the pin striping. Drivers door glass appears to need alignment and what a dangling wiring mess under the dash.
Aftermarket door speakers look out of place and extending their wires willy-nilly into the door jamb is amateur hour. Replace the burned out headlight and let a few pounds out of the rear air shocks for a start.
A careful re-furbishing would have made all the difference. It is still a nice vehicle overall but it does need some TLC.

Wow. It’s a 4 door Torino. Not headed for Pebble Beach.

Didn’t Ford put their front speakers in the doors in most of their cars in the 70s? Speakers may have been replaced (and I hope they’re compatible ohms-wise with the radio) but I think that’s the right spot for them.

The interior puts many new cars to shame. What elegance. Don’t like the exterior color though.

My grandpas last car was one of these. I’ll never forget those taillights. Think it was black or dark brown. Would love to have this.

Beautiful, well-kept car, and nicely equipped with A/C, cruise, AM/FM, big V-8 and dual exhausts. I like that it doesn’t have power windows to cause potential problems. It seems to have some kind of handling package as there is a sway bar under the differential. I would happily drive this all summer to cruises and car shows.

This has to be a record on BF for the # of photos. Not a Ford fan, but when something like this shows up , this unusual, that goes out the window. Those door panels rival Lincoln, and the fabric is beautiful. The whole interior looks like it was never sat in. Love the exterior color, too. Great find!

Forgot to mention, I hope the CB antenna is magnetic, because I would get rid of that. But then again. 1976 was the height of that craze, so just for nostalgia’s sake maybe leave especially if it’s not magnetic. With a nod to C. W. McCall, breaker, breaker.

    No power windows?
How will the young people ever open the windows?
    They would be trapped!

Here’s a nice ride right here. Grand Torinos were a dime a dozen but Broughams not so much. Equipped correctly indeed, air, cruise and flight bench. Good color combination just right for a cruise down memory lane.

I believe that is what is in the glove box. It’s an adapter to use the standard antenna for the CB antenna. They seem to be good for receiving but very short (distance wise) on the transmitting side of things. (No need to ask me why I lnow) I like this car alot. If I purchased it I would put wider stock style wheels (maybe even black spoke wheels because they are cheaper) with possibly .with ..more negative offset and reinstall the wheel covers. This would really help the responsiveness and overall stability. I would also replace the carburetor with one of the aftermarket throttle body fuel injection units. The carburetors on these are very inefficient and prone to leaky power valves. Typically these get 10 to 12 mpg. And I would hope with the changes it would get about 16MPG. I would love to have this car, but no room these days .

Can’t overstate what a unicorn a malaise Torino sedan survivor actually is. Many of these (in lower trim) became taxicabs, government vehicles and Drivers Ed cars and then relegated to the demo derby. Downside for this particular time capsule — color choice, wheels, and the excessive use by Ford of add-on plastic gee-gaws making it look nothing like the sexy 1972 original from which this shell was hatched.

Personally I love the beige on brown colors. Perfectly old people spec’d. You are so right that these were just disposable vehicles. There can’t be many left in ANY condition. I so want to bid but the barn is full.

I plan to make an offer on the Torino, but do you have a starting, running and driving video I can look at first?

The Torino is in storage now. We did take a video a couple months ago. We should be able to find that or can make another one.
It starts up first kick and I drove it around about 30 miles getting ready for pics a couple weeks ago..
My wife took a bunch of stills of it driving around town at that time.
Would love to hear from you

Anyone have an idea on shipping from owners location to Florida or have a recommendation? I want to put in a bid but don’t want to overdo it and then pay for excessive shipping too. Thanks.
