Reader MB has come to the hard realization that they aren’t going to get around to all their projects, so they’ve begun the task of liquidating. We’ve already listed their 1979 Chevrolet Camaro, which can you find here, next up is this 1992 Corvette roller. It’s been sitting out in the Las Vegas sun, so it’s a bit sunbaked, but it’s solid and has a clean title in MB’s name. If you’ve been looking for a cheap project or need a parts car to keep your C4 on the road, this one could be a good option!

The fourth generation of Corvettes saw the introduction of some really impressive performance features. One of the more interesting options available was the FX3 Selective Ride and Handling package. This same system was found on the likes of the ZR-1 and Porsche 959. With the turn of the center console knob, you could go from a soft and smooth ride to being ready to tear up the curves at the race track. The Bilstein shocks are still available, but the electronic actuators that made the whole system work are getting hard to come by. Adding the FX3 package to a car without it is possible, but can get costly and difficult. That is unless you have a parts car that can provide all the needed electrical components and where they go.

In ’92, the standard engine offered in the Corvette was the LT1, which was rated at 300 horsepower and 330 ft-lbs of torque. The fact that this car’s engine and transmission are gone is a bummer, but replacements are available, as the LT1 was offered in several other Chevrolets during the ’90s. You might even be able to find one at the local junkyard. Transmissions are even available, so it’s just a matter of deciding what route to take this Vette.

It’s hard to tell what kind of condition the interior is in under all that dust, but the interior looks complete. Since values are starting to climb for C4s, parts supply is steadily improving. Most restoration parts are available to make this interior perfect again if that’s the direction you go with it. With any luck, the heat and sun haven’t been too hard on the interior, so that it can either be restored on a budget or parted out.

We are sure many of us here have been in the same position as MB, more projects than time, and it’s hard to know what to do with projects like this. MB just hopes to see this Corvette go to someone who can use it, either as a project or a parts car. What route would you go with this C4? Would you part it out and try to find all the parts needed to put it back on the road?

How do you take a corvette and then pound it into the ground like this?

I wish there were better pictures. I am interested even though it looks pretty rough. I live in Boulder City and would like to see it in person

If cheap enough it would be a great donor of the rear ends and suspension for a Tri 5 pickup….

If you want to save it you’ll need a transmission from a donor Corvette. The tailhousing is unique to the Vette with provisions to bolt the “C” channel to the back of it. It’s a parts car.

This car needs lots of work, lots of $$$.Have an interesting story about a Corvette i took in on trade,a 2008 ZO6 with the LS7 and a 6spd.The odometer showed right around 108k miles and had some issues, people usually don’t trade in something that doesn’t.But given all that gave him lower end on trade in value.Few days later the mechanic is going through the system with our scanner and saw something even he didn’t believe at first. This car actually has just under 937k MILES!!!Thats right, just under a million miles!!The lesson learned here is don’t always the believe what the odometer says.At some point the gauge cluster was relpaced with one showing low miles.Remember actual miles are in the computer, not the dash in addition it will also tell you engine hours as well…

Part of me wants to buy it just to drop in a Ford drive train to mess with the Chevy purists but then I sober up and it’s all good. I’m sure if you hunted around on COPART or IAAI auctions you could find a nice Donner car to get this one back on the road.
